Front Hitch + Surf Rod Rack

Following the front hitch install on my '13 SR5 (posted on 5/27), I received a custom fabricated surf rod rack and went to Island Beach State Park (NJ) to use it. Here are a couple pics, including a close up showing 3 things, the hitch, the rod rack, and the bumper ding that I have yet to fix from the winter...

Took rails off to dip and left cross bars off for now. Turned out well for a solution till I decide if a aftermarket rack is in the future

Got my SPC Light Racing UCA's in and installed today. Gotta love Amazon's new Sunday Delivery with Prime. Install was surprisingly easy. Took my time figuring everything out on the passenger, then knocked the driver side out in about 45 minutes. Going in for a new alignment Tuesday morning.

I'm a day late but I had my windows tinted. I got Huper Optik ceramic 40 on every window but the windshield and used the ceramic 70 up front.

So far it looks great except the guy said he's been installing tint for 20 years and my back window was the hardest he's done... and sadly he may have to do it again. There are a lot of bubbles and a few don't look like they'll go away. There is one pretty good sized one on the edge of the window that looks like the tint actually peeled up a little rather than just some moisture being trapped under but they said if I have any problems to let them know and they'll make it right. All the other windows look great.

I kinda wish I had gone darker or matched the fronts to the rears but I don't want to give the cops any extra reason to pull me over, but the picture makes them look a little lighter than they actually are and I was going for heat rejection/stopping the road trip tan over looks.

Next up is a lift.

It wasn't all today but over the last week or so I've added WeatherTech liners, H9 and 9011 bulbs, and replaced the interior lights with LEDs. I used some old model "George's LEDs" taken from my 80 before I sold it as well as some from VLEDs. I ordered red ones for the doors to try and increase safety at night if stopped on the side of the road with the door open.

Last Tuesday in Arizona - Schnebly Ranch Road

I got brave and took the trail last Tuesday on the way to Sedona. Yes it was a bit rough after the vista, but the view was great. I wanted to keep my speed down and not ride the brakes all the way down. I used 4L and used 1 or 2 most of the way. Got all the way up to 3rd gear for a short stretch. Only bumped a skid plate one time. Took 2 hours and my wife would not drive.

took the truck in to the dealership for some work. the front wheel bearings are making a noise and i can feel it in the steering wheel anywhere from 40-80mph. and they're gonna look into the crunching in the back drivers seat.. there's a TSB for it. Hopefully they'll good faith or warranty that.. the wheel bearings will be under warranty though. and a good ole oil change.

Rear lift!

Today I FINALLY got my rear end lifted. Been on two trips with just the front at +3 inches, dragging my butt over sand and rocks

My initial plan is for a relatively light rear bumper (135 pounds) and my normal gear (+200 pounds) in the back so I went with the Icon 2" lift springs instead of the 3. If I was getting the full bumper with swing out and hanging tires and gas off the back I would have gone for the 3" springs. But as it is +3 (or more) in the back would have been crazy and had the stock forward rake to it.

So here it is stock the day I bought it:

I made it to about 4 miles up to the Top of the World today. We gave up and hiked the rest of the way after I saw the 14" to 18" rises that my rig just can't clear.
My woman had some advice for other women passengers: Hang on to your boobs, practice swearing beforehand, plan appropriate revenge, get used to being airborne.
She also called me a redneck, knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, troglodyte for no good reason!

Bone stock shouldn't have issue with top of the world. Are you airing down?
