If we organize a meet to coincide with an optional trail run, I can almost guarantee a better turn out. I personally look forward to the monthly meet. But maybe it is just too frequent for people. Maybe change them to every other month, or even a quarterly thing, and put some actual promotion behind it. (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, other forums, etc)

Thoughts?

Every other month I think is a good idea, give people plenty of time to plan and build up a crowd...

I've been hosting a bi-monthly CRX meet for the better part of the past decade. When we started, we had 4-5 cars each month. It steadily grew over the months/years. At one point, we had 25-30 CRX's each meet and 40+ people consistently for about a year straight. Not bad, considering how many CRX's are still on the road these days! For the past couple years, we're back down to about 10-12 cars each meet. The point is, don't be discouraged by low turnout. It'll grow. It'll fluctuate.

I do agree on changing to a bi-monthly format. When I stared the CRX meets, we tried doing it every month...and it was just too much. 1 month between seems too close together. 3 months was too long. Every 2 months feels just about right.

As for location...we chatted about this at the last meet. I still vote for just setting it and forget it. Polling the members will take forever, and you'll still never ever please everyone anyway. The most you can do is set a place and date. People will either show up or they won't.

It might help to make an "attendee list" for each meet, to show who's coming. It could foster more interest. I know for this most recent meet, I didn't go simply because it seemed like no one else was going. lol

For advertising across other social media besides T4R.org....
I don't know what the "random" community is like in the Toyota off-road world, but I know that with the Honda community there are a lot of, well, hoodlums (for lack of a better word.) I decided a long time ago to intentionally not advertise my CRX meet across the internet because I don't want to attract those kind of people. Since I only advertise on one specialized CRX forum, I get a smaller turnout....but it's a better quality of people. So you'll have to decide whether quality or quantity is what you're after.

Lastly...also related to attendance levels...
I know you're not available on the weekends, but don't think the after-work (especially on a Friday, when people want to go home and relax from the work-week) time slot is helping. Maybe if you do switch to a bi-monthly schedule, you can manage to take a Saturday or Sunday off for this. Then maybe it can also be moved to a local regional park...where there are things like picnic tables, shade, grills, etc. To compare again to my CRX meets....we hold them at a regional park and it works out really great to be able to sit/relax and cook/eat food. It's more enjoyable that way, rather than standing around in a parking lot.

Also just another idea, there could be an all toyota offroad meet? Like tacos, fj's, tundras, 4runners etc.

I agree. Every other month, on a weekend, at a park or off-road destination, barbecue/picnic, and all Toyota Trucks (4Runners, FJ's, Tacomas, and Tundras). You could even make it kinda like a scavenger hunt if you go with an off-road destination. Give us some gps coordinates, and a time and day to be there. Just try to keep the trail difficulty level on the low to mid level for those of us who use our rig as a daily driver as well. We want it to be fun not costly because we broke something on the trail.

Hey there everyone, glad to see these meet ups are still happening, though I'm sorry to hear the turnout has been poor. Sorry I've been MIA, I was out of the country, but I'm back now and looking forward to the next meet up.

Since we're suggesting new things, I did like the idea of shifting where the meet up is every other month (North and South) because I commute from Pasadena, which is unrealistic for me to keep up every month. So if it's possible to maybe do a Super Southern California meet, and then a less southern california meet somewhere near LA or my area, that'd be dope. :clap2:

On that note, there's actually a small-ish car show that happens roughly every month or two at the Rose Bowl right outside the Aquatics Center. I know the guy that organizes it and he said pretty much anyone can get in the show. I went the day I got home and it featured about 6 Lambourginis, 7 Ferraris, 5-7 Porsches, Nissan GTRs, a couple cobras, some mustangs, a large amount of Subaru WRX STIs, and some others like a NSX, some classic cars, etc. It was about 60 cars in total give or take.
It's a bit of a random assembly so I think we could easily get some 4runners in there, I would just need to confirm with the guy and get a basic headcount to try and reserve a few spots next to each other.

It's usually from 8-10 in the morning btw, then the cars roll out to cruise around so we could do that or grab food someplace nearby.

I know it's early, but check out these cars! Plus the smaller size of this show means you get a closer, unhindered look at the cars. It's pretty awesome.

who is down to meet this month?

Since the last Friday of this month is Halloween, Friday the 24th would probably work best.

A lot of people have been asking about a meet, this month would be perfect to get a big one going. Let's see if we can get a big turnout.

Anyone interested can post here, if we get enough interest, I'll post a banner across the main subforums. It isn't obligatory to post but it would be nice for attendance count

Location will remain Laguna Hills at in n out burger.

I may be in depending on when and where. Sent you a message on Facebook about getting the lift and tires on finally. I have a spot in Ramona I can work but I'm also down to do a lift party at your house or something if any of you are interested.
