Awe, was hoping you left the gold Letter edition as is. I went with Bronze wheels to pull out the gold. seems everyone is going black. Cool purchase with pretty low miles. Take care of the important stuff first. IE: tranny cooler, new OEM radiator with OEM fluid, synthetic oil, ( flavor of your choice), timing belt and water pump (if not done within 90K), ball joints, MAF sensor cleaning and all the preventive maintenance you can think of.

Have fun!! Doing my tundra brake upgrade and ball joints today.

Those are weld-on from CBI Offroad with half the angle they normally make them. Normal angle is about a 25° offset from the weld. Mine are around 15°. Awesome craftsmanship. Welds and powder coat are immaculate and their service was great. Give them a call and ask for Nathan (208) 528-0664. Cost was $700 with shipping.

Yeah I thought they looked like a CBI product. They look real unique with the plates welded in. Thanks for the info!

Tundra Brake Upgrade - DONE!

With 311K miles you guys really scared me about the lower ball joint failures. Mine were never involved in the recall but I went ahead and bought two new OEM ball joints over the weekend and went ahead and replaced them today. Finally finished up my Tundra 13WL rotor/caliper brake upgrade. Can't wait to feel the difference in the ride.

Went with the following:
Lower Ball Joints - OEM PN# 43330-39585 (Rt) and 43340-39465 (Lt)

Sport Tech Slotted and Drilled Rotors - 127.44118R and 127.44118L
PowerStop Performance Brake Calipers - S2712 for the pair
Wagner Thermo Quiet Ceramic OE21 shimless pads.

I hesitated to go with the aftermarket calipers and the Wagner pads. Both have a warranty and if I'm not happy with them I can return them. They also take any existing caliper in exchange which was also a deciding factor. Will keep you posted on performance issues.

All the new stuff looks good! How do the new brakes feel? I have a set of tundra calipers laying around but I think I might just go the powerstop route since they are already rebuilt and powdercoated. Also do the brake pads squeak at all? I've heard ceramic pads tend to do that when it's cold out.

Thanks! Go with OEM if you can and check out speedy's video on painting them red. Are they the 13WL or the smaller ones? If you do go with the Powerstops I ordered them from autoanything with a 20% off promo code. Figured I would go with the bigger ones since I'm keeping it. Heading out on a business trip so haven't tested them out yet. Will let you know when I return. My concern with the Wagner pads is they may be too harsh of a pad for the rotors. Might need to go with a "softer" pad. Perhaps OEM. Concern with the powerstop calipers is the QC on the re-build. So far no leaks when I bled them. All went real smooth. Just ran out of time to break them in correctly. No need to rush. Waiting for the 1" body lift to come in before I weld on the sliders. Ordered from Toytec. Was going to go with 4Crawler but too complicated of a site. Huge turn-off.

Ah ok. Yea I've seen that video and he does a great job of showing what to do. And yea I plan on going with the Powerstops since they are already rebuilt and everything. Also yeah I think OEM rotors and pads should be plenty good for the TBU. Yea I was also looking into getting a BL and yea the site is a bit strange to place an order from, Toytec is more straightforward. But I think I only plan on running slightly larger than a 33" tire most likely just 285/75r16 BFG KO2's. But yea keep us posted on the slider install and how the brakes hold up through use.
