I havent gotten to the skid plates yet, probably closer to fall for those as it is another $1200 probably lol.
As you probably found out by now, Edmonton and Canada in general is lacking these stores, however you can go through a distibutor for on the manufacturers from US. 4 Wheel Auto Wholesale is a good bunch of guys, talk to Dan. I got lots of wrench services and parts through him. Also, Northridge 4x4 seems to be able to get lots of parts from states (i got my GOBI through them) but they are in Ponoka so its about 45 min drive one way.

This morning i received my $20 iPhone holder by WIZGEAR from Amazon. Quick and easy install of course and now my phone is not taking up the room in the centre console and screen is always available for viewing maps/videos and quick glance at txts awaiting reply etc. All magnetic, clean and seems to be super strong hold. I will review again once i get on some off-road.

Morimoto HIDs

Finally I got around to installing the Morimoto Kit.
I installed the relays sideways, now i don't see how this will affect the operation and it keeps it away from the empty space where i want to install the distribution box later. (i might relocate it a bit later).
I hid the ballast under the plastic cover on the fender liner with a sticky velcro pad.
Next, using unibit drill a hole of an appropriate size just big enough to be able to feed the connectors through.
Since the hole is not the exact size as the gasket and to ensure no water gets in, some clear silicone was perfect to seal it up.
Clean up all your wiring with as many tie wraps as needed and hide stuff to the best of your ability to keep clean stock look
Now, here was my issue, the passenger side harness was not long enough to allow me to install the ballast under the fender plastic liner so i attached it with velcro sticky pad to the coolant tank. It seems to be solid on there but suggestions are welcome (maybe morimoto have an extension that i can order, also no metal surface was flat enough in 6" diameter that i had to play with)

Excellent kit with very good quality parts and connectors, the instructions are no good in my opinion and i had to do some research on this forum to ensure i was ready for install. I am always intimidated with electrical in the vehicle even though i do high voltage testing for living lol:tongue1:
The light output is excellent and the cut off line is perfect and clear, just need to turn down the lights a bit.

Yes, I will end up emailing the Morimoto next week and asking them (to purchase) for an extension on wiring from the connector that comes from the driver side to the ballast connector.
Also, I want to see if theres a product like heat shrink tube but with one side open so i could heat shrink/encapsulate the bundles of extra wiring/connector behind each headlight housing somehow. It would make for an excellent way to prevent water/debris accumulation and overall cleaner look. Im not planning on ever taking the Morimoto system out as long as it keeps on working.
Now i am also thinking of having a few replacement bulbs just in case (i imagine marimoto got those too)

Anti Dark Kit

Another sunny day means another small project.
Installed the ANTIDARK kit. The kit is very good quality with plenty of length , decent price and quality materials, my hat off to the seller.
Clean the area with denatured alcohol or a bit of acetone and install the LED strip with 3M tape. Ensure to get it as close to the center as possible. I also pushed the LED strip into the grooves of the hood and it seemed to hold no problem.
Route the wiring by making loops of 3M tape and cutting the excess. I used this method as per the video on you tube and I think it makes for cleaner and stronger install rather than the sticky backs and tie-wraps that come with the kit (you will need your own 3M tape for this, I had a wide roll so just cut it in half length wise).
A couple of white tie-wraps around the hood hinge to match the truck..
Route the harness further under the plastic fender cover with the sticky backs and tie-wraps supplied with the kit.
I also added the wire loom to the whole length of negative and especially positive wire for added protection (kit could use more of this imho but I had some laying around).
Not bad
Pop one of the factory pins that hold the plastic valence, drill out the whole to 5/16" to perfectly match the push switch (also provides bare metal contact). The original height setting on the push switch proved to be perfect for disengaging when hood is closed.
Complete!!!
I didn't have a chance to snap night time photo yet as it is bright out here from 4:30 am to 11:00pm but I promise you it is plenty bright!!!

RTT and Gobi

Since I changed the roof rack from FRONT RUNNER to GOBI stealth, I needed to figure out new ways to attach it to the roof rack.
The cross bars on the GOBI are 1-1/8" (did not want to use these because of PITA of access to secure the RTT).
The outer rails which go lengthwise of the vehicle are 1" and these are the ones I wanted to use to better weight distribution and perfect fitment of RTT which is a little bit more towards the back but not blocking the shark fin antenna too much and not too much forward not to block the sunroof. Biggest advantage is easy of access.
After some research I found these. These bracket are alloy and not plastic, incredible craftsmanship and can be in anodized black:
Universal Mounting Bracket- Single 3/8"-16 Female Thread
Now in particular to TEPUI tents (maybe some other too):
- The original TEPUI bolts from the aluminum sliding bracket are not 3/8" but smaller but the AXIA alloy female bracket hole is threaded to 3/8". As the result, I had to use 3/8" x 3/4" course thread bolts which needed some grinder action to grind off one side of the bolt head in order to be able to fit into these TEPUI brackets which keep the bolts from spinning. Also, you will need to drill out the bracket hole to 3/8".
Also, to keep in mind that if you want your tent to open to either side of the vehicle and not the back, the mounting rails will need to be moved across the vehicle and shortened from 56" (length of the tent) to 48" (width of the tent).
Now, the female receiver of the AXIA bracket can be twisted on tight (crescent wrench worked good) to the mountains rails of the tent while tent is still on the ground (measure out the exact width in between your GOBI stealth rails and the equal distance from each end of the tent mounting rails for proper placement). Also, use a flat washer between your AXIA bracket and mounting rails as the AXIA bracket is narrower than the mounting rails and will end up sitting sideways without flat washer (I used 5/16" flat washer for cleaner look).
At this point, when you lift the tent, the semicircle groove in the AXIA bracket should line up +/- 1/8" exactly onto the outer GOBI rails and slide which makes for easier install.
Slide the tent into desired position and do final adjustments (this final adjustments will have to be done only once on initial install and never again
).
Grab the U-shaped portion of the AXIA bracket, clamp around 1" outer rails of GOBI and into the grooves of the female receiver of AXIA bracket.
Insert the allen key into the hole and through the nut which is recessed on the other side so once it catches you don't need a wrench on the nut to tighten the bolt resulting in 0% of busted knuckles. :hat:
The end result:

any electrical supplier in the city will have heat shrink in a multitude of sizes up to about 6" or so. try EECOL, or EWEL

The drawer build is in sketch stages right now. Since I have already build one and it was quite Spartan and heavy. This one I want to be as refine as possible. It will come together in the next few months.
New guy here --- just wanted to drop in and say thank you -- I've been scouring forums for about two days trying to find an elegant solution to get a Tepui on the Gobi, and your fit with the Axia brackets is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks!
Now that you've had it on for a bit -- any concerns at all re: stability, or do the axia brackets perform as you expected?

3 months on the vehicle holding up the tent, lots of highway driving @ 140km/h (with horrible gas mileage lol), 2 camping trips....these brackets have performed flawlessly. I would highly advise to get them.
Make sure you order the correct wraparound length. On GOBI stealth the cross bars are 1 1/8" and length wise (outer perimeter) bars are 1"
