installed LBJ's, OTRE, Energy suspension rack bushings, new front talls with KYB's and got my rear shocks off, then called it quits for today.
tomorrow is new rear talls, Kyb's, and airlift 1000, then get it to the shop for an alignment at 3
just getting the rear shocks off was a major pain so glad its out of the way, loosened up all the rest of the bolts but left all else connected for the night

yehaaa
cant wait to drive it...no more sagging wagon

the fronts with the talls were sure a pain to put in

Cheap & Quick A/C Condenser Cleaning

I've noticed lately that my A/C has been running a little warmer when idling or in stop & go city traffic. Today for example it was around 95 degrees and my A/C was blowing about 50 at the vent in stop/go city traffic.

I decided to try something I had seen at Home Depot called A/C Safe foaming cleaner. It's about $6 a can.

Says it's safe to use on vehicle A/C systems...so I decided to give the condenser a cleaning and see if there was any improvement.

Before I did this however, I did a little research and found that cleaning the condenser can help the compressor to work less and keep the high-side pressure lower. The benefit of that is the compressor won't wear out as quickly.

I went to the local do-it-yourself car wash and started spraying down the condenser. My condenser didn't seem to be too dirty — but I was pretty sure there was plenty of crap stuck up in between the fins that I couldn't see.

Anyways, I sprayed about 3/4 of the can and then waited about 5 minutes for the stuff to do its thing. I then sprayed the condenser down (with low pressure water mostly) and let it sit for a few before firing up the truck.

My main observation is that the A/C seemed to settle about 5 degrees cooler in the same outside temperature and traffic. It went from 50 down to about 45 degrees.

While freeway driving, my A/C typically runs about 42 degrees and after cleaning the condenser — it still runs about 42 degrees.

So it probably won't make your A/C run any colder either unless you are in city traffic.

I think the real benefit of this is that it supposedly makes the whole system run more efficiently which ultimately may save you some money by avoiding a costly repair.

For $6 and 20 minutes of your time, I think it's a worthwhile investment and could easily be added to any preventative maintenance list no matter the budget.

Smart to do, I have promoted cleaning out your condenser and radiator many times on here as no one seems to know it is a THING to do. In Az, we get so much dirt / dust that when I first clean the setup on a car that has not been done before, it often looks like mud pouring out the bottom of the car :)

It's funny you mention the mud part, as I was rinsing out the condenser, I too noticed what looked almost like chocolate milk pouring down to the ground.

All over the ground was what looked like fine sand/dirt too. Though I hadn't checked the ground prior to the cleaning, so I can't say that it was for sure from my condenser.

Finished up sound deadening and insulation on the roof. I removed the headliner, I lined with Butyl rubber tape to deaden sound, fitted the reflectix in and then put the stock insulation and headliner back. Pretty much did the same with sides, doors, lift gate and floor. So far using the sun screen with the windows cracked when parked helps keep cooler interior temps. Vehicle is quieter and stereo sounds way better :guitar2:

I bought it a friend!

Well after literal years of searching I found an MR2 Turbo that was both clean enough and had the documentation to back it up. It is 91' Turbo with 54000 miles, and it is a blast!

And of course :worthless

I definitely want to get out to Borrego or Ocotillo as soon as the weather cools down a bit. Looking forward to using that extra lever :thumb3:

Hey Man today the high is only 100 and the low is down in the 70's. I need a jacket! This is the coolest opening day for dove season I can remember.

Holy crap, that's my hometown, Revelstoke! Recognized the bridges and rainy weather immediately. Such a small place, never expect to see pics of it in random places online.

Which springs did you go to? I try to hit one or two every year on my holiday trip home.

Haha isn't it awesome when that happens? It makes it feel as though the world isnt that big after all.

I only had 2 days and I came all the way from Calgary so I ran out of time really fast. Only got to Halfway River, Halcyon and Lussier. Meant to also go to Canyon, Radium and Fairmont but oh well. Lussier was definitely my favourite.

Yeah, small world indeed.

Canyon and Fairmont are very developed, sort of feel like heated pools (but I guess most of them do now.) Halcyon is a regular stop for me, but I remember before it was developed, when it was literally just some piled rocks and tarps catching hot water from a pipe stuck in the ground.

If you're ever further south, Ainsworth is worth checking out. I'll have to check out Lussier on my next trip--either I've never been, or it's been renamed. Neat!

A lot of people mentioned Ainsworth, I'll be sure to check it out next time!
Some guy at Halcyon mentioned "Whiteswan" hot springs and I didn't really know what he was talking about until I realized that Lussier hot springs are near Whiteswan Lake. One and tbe same?

Could be, pretty far out of my neck of the woods though. Born and raised on the Columbia and Arrow Lakes. Next time I'm in that area, though, I'll check out Lussier.

Ainsworth is interesting because it's still got some of the natural caves in place. It's still touristy, but a little bit more interesting than, say, Canyon or Fairmont.

If you're ever passing through Nakusp again, the Nakusp springs are sort of nice too. Much further off the highway than Halcyon, a little bit more old fashioned. I haven't been there in 10 years though, so things could have changed.

around here with the heavy wet fog we get, it is better not to use high beams cause of glare that bounces back off the fog to you. low beams and fogs give better visability....at least around here

one of my past cars, a euro car, had factory fogs front and back ( so people coming up behind you can see your there esp if they did not have fogs), but the fogs came on only in low beam, but had a little tiny screw on the switch bezel that you could bypass that function and have your fogs on whenever

Wow, she looks super clean! Nice find!

Nice!

I'm actually working on a MK3 supra turbo to keep mine company

I've got a MK3 as well. Nice to see other 3rd gen owners that also like Toyota's previous sports car heritage. Here's mine.
