What do you put in your roof rack?

I used to do a lot of flights with modified Super 8 film cameras, and someday I'd like to get them transferred to video and post them up.
I want a roof rack to mount one of those sweet tents up there so I can go drive to a spot, camp, hunt, fish, sober up in a parking lot, etc. I plan on putting a small kitchenette in the back of mine for successful hunting trips. I'll probably mod the suspension somewhat, but I don't plan on doing much rock crawling as I'll be doing most of the hiking with a day pack and just using my rig as a base camp. It all depends on your plans really. I wouldn't suggest getting one unless you use it, or you got $1K+ burning a hole in your pocket.

Yakima FTW! I carry bikes, skis, fishing poles, and other toy related gear on top of my T4R. Sadly I only found this pic of bikes on top, but I also have a pic of my empty ski racks as well. However, I usually get 20 or so days on the mountain so they are used a fair amount in winter.

I don't use it often but when I do I keep my camping gear locked up on the rack and it allows me to sleep in the truck so that's a pretty big advantage, also firewood and stuff that I'd rather not have inside the truck can be carried up there. I completely agree that most people get it for looks, I love the way mine looks. Although I always get a nice chuckle when I see the same truck driving around town with shovels and maxtrax and axes and jerry cans strapped to their roof rack knowing full well they are just there for looks. It makes sense if you're on a long haul road trip and camping in the middle of nowhere but I see these same trucks on a daily basis on my commute.

How do the Plano boxes do up there? Have you taken long trips with them up top?
Trying to decide between a Plano/pelican option or just go for a Yakima/Thule cargo box for an (almost) cross country two week road trip. Any thoughts?

5 gallons fuel, 7 gllons of water, two plano boxes(58qt)
I run the basket only when needed.. comes off in 5 min..
I have 400+ dirt miles with this set-up.. its very sturdy...
Just added an awning today.. (not pictured) that too can be removed in 5 minutes

I have a wife and three kids. I definitely got an FRO slimline II to use the shit out of it since we maxed out cargo space inside when the T4R was still stock. I currently carry a 2.5m FRO awning on it with plans for two FRO tables stored underneath, their 11ish gallon water tank, two Zarges aluminum boxes, maxtraxx, a shovel, a 10-person ground tent, and some foldable chairs if I have any room left over on the rack.
