What did you do with your classic T4R today?

replaced the csf radiator that came in my 4r. bought aother csf. not as good a fit as the one i replaced; i had to trim the shroud to clear the lower outlet. turns out the new csf core is about 1/2" shorter than the old one. oh well, got it installed.

on the ride home, i just about ran it out of gas. misfired/stalled on the highway and at the exit ramp. kept momentum and rolled to the pumps. took 17.16 gallons to fill it, so it was pretty much out of gas.

What part of the Granite State? I grew up in Groveton, a former paper mill town (we called it Groovetown) back in the 70s and 80s. Planning to retire up there in 10 years or so.

there are a lot of folks confused by toyota literature, as it often lists 1st gen 4rs with a tank capacity of 14.3 IMPERIAL gallons, which is 17.something US gallons. rest assured, i put in more than 15 gallons on most fill-ups, but only rarely do i put in 17+. (for good reason).

i'm familiar with northumberland, and i'm familiar with the disappearance of nearly all paper mills from NH. i am a consulting forester.

i'm in west central nh.

destroyed the interior of my parts trucking trying to get the blower motor out as well as the climate control switches. Also took off the bumper from my daily.

I bought a gold parts runner and took the radiator and ps pump from it and put them on my daily. I also just replaced both cv axles and the e brake cable.

Finalized the first and maybe final draft of the new underhood vacuum diagram to match the engine swap and supercharger.

Could fool me I think... Next will be an emissions label recreation with updated info. Not sure how I'm gonna tackle that just yet.

Hi All,

Bought my first 4Runner a few days ago. 3.0 Petrol, 1991 RV6 4Runner.

Needs a few things to do, but spent today measuring how much wire I need to go to the rear to charge my camper trailer (5 Metres, but I'll get 6 to be safe).
Decided to route the power through the cab I think as underneath it's more prone to damage and will have some tight spots to squeeze it through.

I found a bung at the bottom of the rear quarter panel I can use (after I broke through the hard 3cm deep of fine dust that had accumulated over 26 years

Few pics below/attached. Will figure out how to embed them with trial and error.

To do list is:
- Fix tailgate lock as it wont turn with the key. incab switch works fine.
- fix my central locking and fob
- take it to mechanic to look at multiple leaks haha.
- wire in wire for camper power
- finish wiring the arb air locker that was previously installed
- fix my heater cable as it only blows hot (going on 12hr car trip in a few weeks so need that fixed asap)
- give it a massive clean. inside and out.
- probably paint grill, wheels, side steps black
- find a jack and tire lever would be handy.
- install a new stereo and find some cheap speakers. was boring journey home when I bought it.

Mine usually doesn't sit that long ether.
Shes been broke for a year now. :nono:
Life has been really expensive this year, and since the crawler is a "toy" she gets put on the back burner.
She will be back up and going full force come next season.
Till then I keep wheeling my wifes 3rd gen. :girl:

did a little camping and light wheeling

in the 4runner over the weekend. fall foliage slightly past peak, but still colorful in person. admittedly not a brilliant new england foliage season, as many of the colors are a bit muted; still wouldn't trade fall in this area for anywhere else, or anytime else.

slept in the back of the runner with the rear seats folded flat. nice to have added a "live" rear window switch in the driverside rear seat pocket, so opening and closing the window from the cargo area didn't involve fumbling for the keys to put in the ignition, and then fumbling with the console switch.

I finalized my refreshed and updated Emissions sticker for under the hood

kept same size as 95, but made it look like the 98 to match the engine. Also added vin and BAR barcodes for legal swap as well as supercharger and K&N legal numbers. Could fool me!
