Scangauge question: AT Temp?

I've seen conflicting reports on whether the Scangauge II can be made to show AT temp. Some say yes, some say "maybe." Anyone know for sure?

I'm currently running an Ultragauge but it does not show AT temp on the 3rd gens and according to the Ultragauge website, there are no plans to upgrade it to do so.

I've recently been thinking of adding an AT temp gauge to my '99 SR5 but a scangauge would probably be less expensive and I can always throw the Ultragauge into my DD 97 Mazda which has a manual tranny anyway.

A smudge more research and you would find your answer.

The SGII will show ATF temperature on 99-newer 4Runners. It will NOT show an ATF temp for 96-98's.

The 96-98's do not have the same physical trans temp sender as the newer ones. Hence, the OBDII does not read a specific temperature during operation, it simply sets the "idiot" light off when the trans gets over temp. Which is probably north of 300 degrees.

So to answer Martinjmpr's question, YES, your '99 will show ATF temps.

This, my buddies SGII showed my 2000's sr5's AT temps after my bm70268 cooler.

Im pretty sure thats the same code we used on my buddies SGII for the Trans Temp in my 4runner.

He also has some codes for engine HP and Tq. It says his 3.5L Isuzu Trooper makes like 230hp

No, because your ECU still doesn't report trans fluid temp.

How do you set the SG2 to read the transmission temperature?

Which buttons do you press to see it? Sorry for the noob response, I just do not know how to set it.

And how do you set codes in it?

It's in the SGII manual that comes with it. Use the XGauge feature on page 25.
