Added some new lights
So we all know that the stock reverse/back up lights s@#* donkey balls. And since I've gotten my windows tinted, I can't see anything when I back up. My original plan was to install some auxillaries in a spoiler, but the angles would not work. So instead, I mounted them in my bumper and wired them to the stock reverse lights. They are 2" 9LED lights, so they don't draw much power...and so far they do pretty well.
Marking spots for drilling
One hole drilled...used 2 1/8" hole saw...
They work...I just tapped into power and ground that go to stock light
Night shot
Not the most technical mod, but these will work until I get LED tails...

I haven't tried them myself but I hear fullylitLED's has some really bright back up light replacements.

Thanks. It was a pretty cheap project. The lights are 2" 9LED back up lights I bought off Amazon for $25 bucks or so...They come with the grommets, but I trimmed the top a little so they would sit more flush. These are nice because you can give a little angle when setting the lights in the grommets, but they're still pretty secure. I also had to add a few feet of 16 gauge wire to reach the stock lights. And a 2 1/8 hole saw is the perfect size to cut the hole.

Here is a side pic, you can see that they sit pretty flush...

I didn't even look there...I plan to get full LED tails someday, and I noticed this morning one of my license plate lights is out, so I may be giving them a call...thanks for the heads up.

Looks good man! I like how that turned out! Aside from Blcktpgsr's Rear Mounted Piaa lights, these have to be my favorite aftermarket set up!

Thanks. Its nice to be able to do cheap things here and there. Between work, grad school, and wedding planning I need to get away! I like his setup too, and when I finally get around to doing the satoshi, I want to mount some lights like he did. Never any shortage of ideas around here thats for sure.

Looks clean, nice work. Reminds me of BigFishAllDay's fog light project. Throwing some LED's in the taillights you have would set it off nicely IMO.

What color are those LEDs? They look blue in the pictures.
Any pictures of the actual light output? Ex: picture of the ground behind 4Runner.

Thanks. My plan is to eventually get full LED tails, but that's down the road.

I'm pretty sure they're just white, at least that's what the ad for them said. I think they look that way compared to the old yellowed stock lights. I don't have a pic of output yet, but I'll try to get one tonight after class when it's dark.

Nice and original! Hate to "bite" on your idea, but I like it so much, I may do this to mine.
