On my 2001 SR5. I put exactly 5 quarts in each time. Brings it right to the middle line.

My first 2 3rd Gen's took 5.5 quarts. However, my current 4Runner takes 6 to 6.25 quarts.
I would try putting in 5.5, then letting it sit for a few minutes and check the dipstick. Keep adding a little each time until it hits your "Full" line. Keep a mental note of the amount so you don't have to do this over and over. ;)
I am not sure if any ducting, or dimensions changed from year to year, but its safe to say if you have 5.5 to 6 quarts in there, you should be fine.

My 4 cylinder takes exactly 5 quarts every single time and it's prefect!

Oil Capacity
Haynes says 5.5 for 3.4L V6 with filter change and 5.7 for the 4cyl's. Those sorry SOB's with the 4's thought they were more economic. Ha ha. Who's laughing now?
I have only been a member on here for a short time as I had no idea how great this forum is. The builds, information, and comradery - very talented people sharing their passion = AWESOME!
Thanks T4R!
