My 99' Highlander, 5 speed build
Figured I'd get a thread started for this one too. As most of you know, I sold Tyrone a few weeks ago. This truck is pretty much everything I would've spent a ton of money turning Tyrone into. Specs:
'99 Highlander
4x4
5 Speed
Black
Tan Leather
172K miles
Kenwood HU
JL Amp & Stealth Box
Stock for now
Very clean
Since I bought it:
Replaced the throttle position sensor. (had a CEL)
Today, 7/31/12, I did:
New Plugs
New Wires
Cleaned the MAF
Cleaned the TB
Replaced the PCV valve
It had a CEL, P0171, lean on bank 1. I thought that would be an O2 sensor, and it might be, but the sensor looks brand new. (not sure if it's a Denso though). So I did the tune up hoping that it was a result of a dirty MAF instead of the O2 sensor but we'll see.
I also just bought a brand new Aisin clutch kit. Install to happen soon.
I also have the following parts ready to go on:
LC 80 wheels
285/75/16 Treadwrights
Bilstein 5100's on 2nd perch
Tundra TRD springs
LC 7.5 wraps
On the way:
LC Tokico shocks
Sonoran Adjustable Trac Bar
Sonoran Diff Drop
Extended Rear Brake Lines
Taco LBJ's & OTRE's
Wheelers Rack Bushings
Wheelers Sway Bar Bushings
Still looking at 231 Brake upgrade options
Stay tuned. This one will he nice.
Also, I'm taking name suggestions for this one. Let's hear it.
How she sit's after after lift, wheels and tires:

That thing is sweet. If theres one thing I could change about my 4runner, I would make it a manual. Well that plus I would turbocharge it. And get a sport hood, and wide flare, and a roof rack, and sliders, and a JAOS spoiler, and . . .

Make it the evil cousin to Brian's build out west, which means new front and rear bumper.
I also advocate changing the ITRs at the same time. For another 1/2hr of your time and $100 for the saeki 555s from NAPA, plus bellow straps, do it.
What is with the placement of the cig lighter?
Did you ever get a chance to put an impact on the crank bolt? Just curious how it turned out for ya.
I am awful with names, but going with a girl's, Elvira.

It looks like Tyrone's little brother who went to college...(Tyrone is clearly "Street Smart")
I'm stuck in Japan chugging Chu-Hi's when all I want to do is work on my truck...
Let me know if you need any help for when you're working on the clutch. I'd like to help out and learn how to do it on the 4runner. (I'm heading back on the 11th)

Love the stealth box, was looking at those to add to mine as well.
As for names: Midnight. Cheesy I know but that's immediately what I thought of when I saw the first picture.

Since it's a sweet manual requiring "different strokes" for better control, performance/MPG, no pink milkshakes, wouldn't this be a more appropriate name?:
I really love this new acquisition of yours! The rare 99 highlander should tame your crazy craving/spending spree............................................. .. for now anyways lol

Willis is good too. Hasn't tamed me though, I'm looking at a few others right now but to flip, not for myself. I've actually dome pretty well with these things. They're kind of getting to the point where they're getting old and up there in miles where non-enthusiasts are starting to give up on them. I kind of like the idea of freshening them up and keeping them on the road.

If you're planning on keeping it... I vote for "Back in Black". You've had so many different ones, including another black one.... so.... "Back in Black"! ;)
