SLIDES- build (pic heavy)
Since everyone has their own build thread i think its time that i create my own. My name is Rob and have had an obsession with cars since i got my first audi in highschool. Recently i decided that with my active lifestyle that i need more cargo room. This became apparent during a week trip to yellowstone in BMW which was lowered and had limited space.
In early September 2014' I drove to Milwaukie, WI from Minneapolis to pick up my new truck. It was a 2002 SR5 with only 112k on it 1 owner (purchased it with 8 miles) who drove to FL and ILL twice a year. The original owner did the oil changes before 3k, had all the fluids flushed at 110k and upgrade the interior to leather or so i was told. I really couldn't ask for a truck in better condition especially with no rust.
So I picked it, drove it home and started working on it with in the first 24hrs of having it.
Items Replaced/fixed:
113k Spark plugs
113k Fuel & air filter
113k Scangauge
113k Running Board removal
114k B&M tranny cooler 70268
114k Truck Bed liner sprayed on
114k Remote starter
115k Trac-VSC kill switch
115K Hankook Dynapros (32s)
117k ISR
117k Deckplate Mod

Over the weekend i went to my freinds work where he removed the pinstripe, bug deflector and buffed the hood and where the pin stripe was. The bug deflector was rubbing agains the hood for some time and has rubbed through the clear coat, eventually i will be getting a new hood with the scoop. It pretty nice to have a friend who works at a body shop, a case of beer can get you far.
I also plasti-diped the badges, i cant stand the gold. The plasti-dip is only temperory, when i get the hood done my buddy is going to paint the badges, grill and put a nice paint tint on the tail lights.

The next item to address was removing the running boards and also adding some underbody protection (truck bed liner). The winters in minnesota are rough and since this truck has no rust i want to keep it that way as long as possible.
I cant get over the difference with and without the running boards. It looks so much better without them and now i dont have to worry about getting my pant legs dirty ever time i get out of the truck. I plan on getting some rock sliders in the next few months.

I was browsing over the weekend and found some FJ wheels for sale. I was about to drive out to Chicago for some when
@ acj990
threw up a post that he was selling his 2010 sr5 wheels. I contacted him probably about 30minutes afte the post went up, organized a time and then drove to Iowa the next day which was some 350 miles away
I could have had them shiped but this was the last weekend i had my BMW so i felt obligated to drive.
The wheels are in excellent condition, one wheel just has a little scraping on it. After researching and calculating which tire to go with, which is a tough decision I decided on 255/75/17 in Hankook dynapro atm rf10. All the reviews of this tire seemed positive and the price was right.

do you have a picture of the new wheels on your rig? would love to see what they look like. and also, do you have to use spacers with them or direct bolt on?

These Hankooks are awesome tires, we had about 4" of snow the other night and didnt even need to put it into 4x4. The wranglers that where on my 15s are horrible if there was even and 1-2" i would have to kick into 4x4

I finally had some free time on my hands so today I have been able to work on a few things.
I picked up some silverstars last night, I was sick of driving with no light. They are so much better than cheap halogen bulbs. My next plan is to get some decent fog lights that will really help for projection. I was suprised when changing my the bulbs to see a retaining clip there, nice little touch to keep the bulbs from bouncing around.
I had all the parts for the ISR mod and deck plate mod laying around for a few weeks now so I got a chance to put it together. Today I drilled holes and got everything ready for painting. I want everything to stay black in the engine bay or else i think it looks weird.
While browsing the forum I rmemeber about the DRL mod so I quick found out what wire to snip, went out to the truck and got it cut and taped in a few minutes. Simply and easy mod that's worth it.
I'll throw some pictures up tomorrow.

I still have yet to add the deckplate, i will be doing that this weekend. I was looking for a 4.5 dia cutter but havent been able to find one for cheap so im going to take a different approach.
ISR- this mod is simple and you do notice a little difference in throttle or its in my head, i dont need to give it as much gas when cruising on the highway. Also if driving normal you cant even tell you did this mod but once you get on it, wow its a lot louder!!!

Searched but couldnt find my answer. I found a set of these 2010 SR5 wheels and curious if spacers are required? I will be using 255/65R17s and doing the 231mm TB upgrade in future. Thanks

No spacers are requiered, and the 231mm brakes will fit fine.

He removed the intake silencer and replaced it with a straight pipe. It is said that it makes throttle response better at the cost of adding noise. I plan on doing it some time down the road but the deck plate mod would definitely come first as it has been dyno proven to add a little hp/tq.
