Wow. Interesting news to say the least....
If I was ARB... I would literally take the Tacoma one, mold it a little better with a 4Runner fender. Include an OEM Tacoma fender intake tube and call it a day...
24 hours later you have a 3rd gen snorkel and basically everyone on t4r would buy in a heartbeat!
No matter, 3rd gens have only been out for almost 20 years!!!
Guess we will just have to hold our breath and wait another 20.

Guys, keep in mind that ARB does not design or manufacture the snorkels. They just have the distribution rights to sell them in the USA. Safari Automotive makes them. ARB and Safari are two separate companies, this is why it can be difficult to get product development news.

i'd say 99% of people having snorkel don't need it, me included, i probably only do 1 deep crossing once a year. if i didn't get mine at such a crazy deal i would never buy one new.

This is so true. It's sad when a company gets so big the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. They quit listening to their customers and most of all...they stop using common sense!!
Like you said, make a couple changes for the antenna and it's good. They alread know is flows and works. But then again..you know they're go to sell them for $400!!! That's crazy price for what you are getting. I've seen what...10-20 guys have bought that HiLux Snorkle for $200! That's customers that ARB are losing.

This is correct...and the Safari snorkle build team and ARB are having a big meeting next month to figure out what's going to be built, when , and all that other fun stuff.

living in Florida, i'd say 85% of the wheeling i do involves coming across some deep water crossings, so a snorkel is on the top of my list. i'd like to see what Safari Automotive comes up with, but not going to wait around too long....i'll probably just end up with the Tacoma one.

Yea,i didnt even think about the antenna. I hope they take that into consideration. Either way I'd rather have the snorkel then antenna, my wife listens to the radio more than me haha.

Oops...I'm unsure what happen, but I posted an update about this a couple months ago. Unsure what happened...did I forget to hit the send button?? Heck...that happens to me all the time while texting..haha!! Sorry guys, anyways......
I did call the great powers to be at ARB. The gentleman that I spoke to stated they had their big pow-wow meeting with the company that actually makes, developes, and test ARB's snorkles. He advised, yes they're still talking/working on a 3rd Gen specific snorkle...that's the good news. The bad news is: he followed that up with: (just as "The Great Him" has already stated)....they're leaning more toward the end of the year before it would be released. Just as I started to get very excited and almost teary eyed from happiness...he continued with "but I can't make any promises"!!!!
So........I guess take it for what it's worth. I don't no if he's just telling me this to shut me up for another 6 months...or is he serious?? I truly believe they are working on a Snorkle for us...I just don't know when they'll release it. I personally am not in a huge hurry to spend $400 to "make" something work on my rig, so I'm going to hangout for a while longer to see if they will actually bring this to market.
If anybody else hear's anything...by all means, post it up. A while back, I requested everyone to call ARB...requesting them to make this! Unsure if anyone other than me did this?? Just remember the old sayin; the squeaky wheel always gets the grease!

I have seen a few 3rd Gens on this site with the "long arm" snorkel. I just assumed it was an older/newer model of a Safari.
This one is for sale in Asheboro: Is it a 2nd Gen? Or are their non-ARBs out in the market?
