I have a friend who works at Safari. Both the 3rd gen and 4th gen snorkels are on the board. He's not working on the 3rd gen, but he thinks it'll be ready for testing in a few months.

Just talked to a guy at ARB yesterday, told me they are hung up on the 4th generation snorkel and the 3rd has been put on the back burner. Couldn't give me a timeline.

Hello Guys and Gals
Since Toyota Magazine came out stating that ARB is coming out with a 3rd gen Snorkle, I've been calling ARB every few months checking on this. Over that time I've been told everything from, it's a dead issue...to maybe in a couple more months!
Well, I think my persistence might have finally paid off. I just got off the phone with Eric at ARB who stated: the representative of manufacturing for the company who makes their snorkles, Safari, was just in town last month for a production meetings. During the course of those meetings, Safari stated both 3rd and 4th Generation 4Runners snorkles are in production now!!
I of course ask very quickly where do I get one, how much, and can I see a picture. Eric advised the snorkles are being made, but have not reached distribution centers yet. Unfortunately, Eric was unable to provide any additional info at this time...although he did say pricing will probably be inline with similar style snorkles!
Eric did go "off the recorded" and state he's very confident the snorkles will be available for order by mid to late November...but no promises!!
It would be sweet if we could get a GB going for these...maybe next month Don't know if anyone has conections with someone who sells ARB gear...that could help put a GB together?
We're getting closer...

Don't get me wrong, I get fanatic over upcoming product releases just as much as the next guy, but I feel like you guys could've made your own snorkels in half the time it's taken them to announce literally nothing. At the end of the day, it's about $30 worth of black plastic and a few brackets.

This is such great news!!! Thanks for being the snorkel King and/or advocate that we needed!
I can't wait to spend all my x-mas $$$$ on a 3rd gen specific snorkel!!
I will start my application for a small business loan now!!! 679$ plus tax!
What's everyone else's guess on the price??????

Time will tell... I'm sure the price will be in line with the arb tacoma which is ~$399. I'm also sure it will be slightly better made then the generic helix surf snorkel which goes for ~$130. Just not $280 better made IMO.

I love the ARB snorkel look. I almost bought a Taco snorkel, but they don't clear the CBI lights. I'm hoping that these will.

I think its great you guys are all excited about this, but for a quarter of the cost of that thing, you can run the Hilux 167 snorkel. It clears the ditch light brackets too with a little trimming.
Hilux 167 snorkel for 3rd gens
I ran an ARB taco snorkel on a 96 too, The 167 went on easier. Just my 2cents.

I'm Not trying to knock anybody's rigs...this is just my retired Veteran's red neck opinion!!
Three things wrong with the HiLux 167 snorkle...first is the fit and finish, which is sub-par to me...just like everything made in China! I don't like the gap it leaves between the tube and fender. Some look better then others.
Second...I hate supporting anything from Frik'n China! Unfortunately, sometimes you don't have a choice. But when I do...I try my best and pick anything except China! I avoid Walmart and Harbor Freight like the plague!! Just me...and yes, I do have issues!!
Third...hate supporting a communist country, which I'm sure some day we'll have to fight!! Just say'n...

I can live with that tiny gap and my $280. As far as the other two issues those battles were lost long ago. Real issue with the helix is that rubber tube. It starves my supercharger while under wot.
I applaud arb for coming out with a specific 3rd gen snorkel though. Should be a nice addition to the products we can purchase for our rigs. I'm just glad they have competition.

My contact at Safari says they are only producing Triton, Navara and Hilux snorkels at this time. The 4runner ones are still a little way off.
Chinese vs Aussie snorkel? Get whatever makes you happy and quit b:tching about something you have no intention of buying, cause that's dumb.
