Thanks, this write up has eased my mind a bunch. I order the Amazon one and had read a few places about issues but with this info and pics I think I made the right decision. Again thank you sir.

I'd be interested in the kit! Let me know of the progression toward this idea.

Thanks for the great write-up!

The snorkel is now $129 shipped!

Seriously thinking about this.

Still loving mine. Just remember to seal up the rest of the intake if you plan to actually use it!

It is amazing how many comments I get on the snorkel. More so than my bumpers.

The reason I ask...the one time I bid on a "make offer"...I ended up getting the item for $1.02 less than it was advertised for. And that took 4-6 emails back and forth over a couple of days!! What a joke and big waste of time!! Hopefully yall faired better than I did...lol!!!

Thanks guys

I just bought what might have been the last one on Amazon for $130 shipped. Now I have to convince myself and my girlfriend that it is a good idea to drill one big hold into our prefect fender.

I saved $5, so $125. Yeah, the "best offer" option on ebay doesn't save you very much. I think it's a good way for the seller to hook you, since once you make the offer, you've already decided to buy.

Some advice to consider

I was advised to turn the head around when driving in heavy snow to prevent hydrolocking. I know it sounds crazy, but if enough snow gets into the head it will melt down the intake tube instead of the edges around the head. It would take quite a bit for that to happen but I would hate to hear that that happens to someone.

tip

Just a tip from my experience. At about 130km/h i had the top boot fly off of my snorkel but luckily recovered it and no damage to the piece, I put some pan head screws into the top connection to make sure it wouldn't happen again.

Thank-you for the write-up! Mine will be delivered between 1/27 and 2/6 so I'm getting the required goods.
Your write-up indicates needing some rubber door trim to fill gaps - but I don't see where you used it in the steps. Thanks in advance for the help!

Couple more notes on the Hilux snorkel. I would run to Lowe's or wherever and replace the hardware with Stainless Steel hardware because the cheap Chinese hardware rusts in like three days.

It also works with the CBI Ditch Brackets which the ARB snorkel doesn't work with from my understanding. The light brackets contact the snorkel but not very hard.
