FN Wheels
I have some exciting news to finally share.
@ FNWheels
has joined the project as a sponsor!
I am proud to be able represent one of their newest wheels, the 17x8.5 5-Star in Bronze. -6mm offset and 4.5" backspacing.
Dustin has done a great job expanding his selection, there are many more options than when I had my last 4Runner.
To go along with it, I got a set of 315 duratracs.

Awesome to see you back in a 4Runner Jim! Nice choice on the FNwheels. Dustin is so easy to deal with. Bought some Konig countersteers from him about a year ago. Was looking up something on the boards and saw your updated signature. I used your awesomely detailed post from your 2001 on my interior LEDs about a year ago as well.
That makes two of us at least going back to a 3rd gen 4Runner. I sold my 1996 maybe 3 years ago and ended up regretting it. Had fun in an Evo XI for a year before selling that too. Then stumbled upon a 1999 E-locked 4runner here in Abq.
Cool to see your update about work and school, had a friend on a slightly older FSAE team. Any plans to go to grad school for mech e? Probably only worth it if an employer fronts the bill though.
Your thread has inspired me to add some things to my to-do list as well (interior sound dampening and possibly hood quicklifts)! I'll have to create a thread on my build progress over the past 2 years.

Hey Kai! Long time man. What else have you been up to? Evo must have been a riot, why did you end up selling it? Once I got the S4, its just too much fun not to have a fast car.
Please do make a thread on your 99', I want to see it! What else have you done to it?
You said it man, only going back if someone else pays for it haha.

Not much, out of school at the moment. Just working for a small IT consulting company here in town. Yeah, the Evo was a really impressive car (even with just stock suspension), that I wish I could've kept. In the end I didn't like having a car payment and two cars to pay insurance on. It basically just sat in the garage most of the time anyways. Plus I bought a house in town last year, so that cash went to the down payment and mortgage .
I'd love to have a fast car again, maybe someday in the future depending on financials. I dig the Golf R and the Focus RS. Might wait for second hand RS' to hit the market here in a couple years.
As for the 99 I'll make a thread here soon. Installed Bilstein 5100s and OME 2906s last summer, probably the biggest modification beyond a million small things (speakers, head unit, short shifter etc).
You DDing the 4runner with the Audi in for repairs?

Adult stuff sucks. Send me a link once you make a thread! Sounds like a nice 4Runner you have going.
Yeah the 4Runner is on DD duty for approximately 1-2 more weeks. The S4 is going to paint early next week. That has been the hold up on the mods for it. Everything I am replacing on the suspension will take more than a weekend and I can't have 2 vehicles down at the same time.
B5 S4 will be the daily starting mid October then the build is back into high gear!

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for the super detailed posts and give credit where it's due. I used your idea for the mounting platform for the big 3 breakers and fuse box. I didn't have access to the fancy laser cutter you do, so mine isn't quite as clean.
