GSPs are cool, even in humiliation mode.

Love those water/driftwood/sky pics.

and the 3rd gen is pretty too.

You are correct Sir. It was quite magical that day.

I do like my ST Maxx's. I had KM2s before like you have and I really liked those as well. But I wanted something that performed better in all conditions so I went with more of a hybrid all/mud terrain with the ST Maxx. I've had it in pretty much every condition and it has performed admirably. They are a step behind the KM2's off road in mainly rocks and loose dirt, but they do well enough.

Jealous on the GX, if I would do it over again I'd get a 460 and not the 5th Gen.
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it!

Sounds like you and I have similar tastes. Keep up the photos!

Love both 4runners! I have my 3rd gen and we also have the 5th Gens cousin the GX460.

Nice Pictures! How do you like your Cooper ST Maxx tires btw?
I want to second the look of your retrofit GSPRunner, I didn't even notice them until I saw crowdad's post, then I had to go back and look. Sneaky!

Couple updates on both rigs...

Installed a 14" Magnaflow(thanks @Hepar ) on the 3rd Gen. Decided that I wanted a more aggressive exhaust note to go with my aggressive looking truck. I had the shop redo the tail pipe as well. They shortened it a bit and tucked it up pretty high under the bumper. I like the way it came out. The muffler is a tad loud for my taste, but it doesn't drone on the highway and that was what I was most concerned with.

image2 by Joe Bonogofsky, on Flickr

And on the 5th Gen, I installed a set of BFG All Terrains. Stayed with the stock size and a load range C so the ride would stay plush and I wouldn't sacrifice any MPGs. I ended up finding 3 slightly used tires with only a couple thousand miles on them off a Tacoma World member for $300, and I purchased a new tire from Discount. Here's where the fun begins. They had to order the tire, so I waited a couple days and then took the rig in when it arrived. They accidentally ordered a load E tire. Not a big deal, but this was just the latest of several Discount Tire screw ups with me. I'm usually pretty understanding but this was my final straw so I decided to complain. I've been a Discount customer since I started driving pretty much and have spent a lot of hard earned money with them, so this was more of a stop screwing up so I don't have to find a new tire shop complaint, rather than a give me something free complaint. Discount stepped up and comped the new tire for me, so I was satisfied with that. They were able to get another one in that day, so I went back down there to have everything installed again. As soon as they were done and I pulled out of the lot, the TPS light came on. So I pulled right back in and they checked and filled the tires again and I left. Got home and pulled in the garage and I heard a tire leaking air. It was one of the slightly used tires, so my first thought was "****, that guy sold me a bad tire." I drove it back down there and told them and even though it was the used tire, they refunded me the original cost for the installation even though I said they didn't have to. So 15 minutes go by, and the Manager comes out and tells me they can't fix the tire! So now I'm really mad at the guy I bought them from but then Discount went even more above and beyond, ordered me another new tire and comped the cost on that as well! Discount redeemed themselves big time, even for something that wasn't their fault! I was very pleased and will continue to do business with them. So in the end, I have 2 brand new tires, and 2 almost new tires for $300. Not bad!

Anywho, I've had several sets of the KO AT's and I'm generally happy with them. I wanted to get the KO2's, but I came across this deal and couldn't pass it up.

Looking forward to weather getting nice and getting back outside. I just had back surgery, recovery is going well and in about a month I'll have the green light to start going HAM again. I have a Revtek spacer lift that I got for free that I'm going to install on the 5th gen as soon as I'm feeling up to it. Not an ideal setup, but this thing is pretty much a street queen as the 3rd Gen see's most of the off-road action. I have a P0171 code on the 3rd Gen that's annoying me along with less than satisfactory gas mileage. Replaced the front O2 sensor and that didn't fix the problem. I'm going to start to look for vacuum leaks. Other than that, it's ready for another season of adventure!

@ gsprunner, I really like your 3rd gen (well your 5th is sweet too...)! Love the way you've outfitted it. Perfect setup.

What brand / model of camera and lens do you use? You take some amazing pics.

Thanks

Durwin

Thanks man! My camera is a Nikon D40x with just the standard 35-85mm DX lens. Nothing special but it does the job.

Start with a full shot of the 5th gen's new kicks.

Also- the scan gauge reports a number different than my Trans temp gauge. I don't remember if it's more or less, but I'll tell you the difference later when I drive somewhere.

Interested in knowing about this too. I think I've read it reads higher than actual, but confirmation would be nice.

The difference in temperate appears to be almost exactly 10 degrees warmer. When my gauge reads 150 degrees (probe is right before the trans cooler, so I imagine that's the warmest point) the scan gauge is reading 160 degrees.
