Engine Misfire Diagnosis & Fuel Injector Replacement

Hey Dudes,

If you're dealing with a misfire engine code, this video shows you some logical steps to follow to diagnose and hopefully fix your misfiring issue. We also show you how to replace all the fuel injectors on your 3.4 Liter V6 5VZ-FE engine.

Nope, it didn't. The misfire popped back up after 20 miles of driving. We're going to have to get Greg back over to do some more diagnosing and see if we can find the fix. The misfire can be caused by so many things so it's sort of a nightmare to pin down if the obvious fixes people employ don't work.
 
Thanks Tim! I was looking for this exact thing yesterday. I was a day early but will watch it now. Since I replaced an injector yesterday it will probably make more sense.
 
Inner and Outer Tie Rod Replacement

Did a little farting around with it hooking it up to my 2000 3rd Gen but that's it. I need to get Greg back over and hook his rig up to it and then see what we see regarding the misfire. I've been working lots of overtime lately at the fire department because I just dropped 16k for a new roof on my house and spent another 3k on my vacation so the bank account is looking a lot less full right now.

Being that it on the first cylinder, 4reak may be on to something with it being with the cam or crank sensor. I have never messed with either on the 4Runner because my scanner can’t read such. You may want to start digging there. Can’t believe Greg couldn’t get the rear O2 off, I didn’t think CA had rust.

$16k for a roof is no laughing matter. You weren’t kidding when revealing just how high costs can be there.....:help:
 
In places where you can't use the torque wrench you can guesstimate it fairly accurately by multiplying the length of the arm you are turning with the weight (force) you are putting on it. For example, 50 ft-lbs spec is equal to putting 50 lbs force on a lever 1 foot away. Or if the wrench you're turning is 18" where you are pulling it then the weight you should apply to reach 50 ft-lbs would be 50 x 12" / 18" = 33 lbs. You can estimate how much force you are putting on it by comparing it to lifting a weight and how that would feel.

Or you can just use the German Torque Technique of "Gudentite"
 
E-Locker Bench Test

Here's a video that shows you how you can bench test an e-locker you either bought from someone or pulled from a wrecked 3rd Gen 4runner or 1st Gen Tacoma before you do all the labor to install it.

Great video, thanks for the insight. I'm about to do this and I had a question, can the tone ring, retainer and c clip be reused? Trying to save a few pesos and I think I've read in the different write ups that I can be done, just wanted to verify. Thanks

I take it you're talking about the rear axles. The answer to your question is yes, yes, and it's up to you. I've reused the ABS tone rings and both retainers on each axle but I've never reused the c-clip. I probably wouldn't advise reusing the c-clip. Yes sir the rear axle, I've watched the videos on the job and I'm gathering the nessary items now. I'll get new c clips for certain, I've got bearings already. I must have missed the part in video that you discussed reusable parts, but thank you for your prompt reply. Great day to ya

I'm not sure if I mentioned reusing parts in the video because it was so long ago. But, since making this video, I've done this job around 6-7 more times and I reused the tone rings and retainers because there's no risk doing so and it saves you around $150.
