Hey Dudes,
I wanted to share with Y'all that infamousRNR (aka Sean) and I are celebrating the 1 Year Anniversary of our YouTube channel "Timmy the Toolman" today.
As of toady, we have made 35 Videos, attracted 1022 Subscribers, and there's been 144,000 Views total. I never would have thought that offering to help out Sean with replacing his valve cover gaskets would have turned into this. In this process, we've worked on 8 other people's rigs (most were complete strangers to us) for the low, low price of beers and lunch. Some of these guys we'll see again and others we'll never see again.
So far, the response to our videos has been overwhelmingly positive and we're always stoked to hear one of our videos helped somebody repair or modify their own rig without resorting to paying the high labor prices at the dealership and other shops.
Whether you're already a DIY mechanic or you want to learn how to wrench on your 3rd Gen, I highly recommend you visit our channel:

If you like what you see, subscribe so you'll be instantly notified every time we upload a new video. I have monetized our videos to create a little revenue for us. I chose the "Skippable" type of ads because I personally found them to be the least annoying. We got our first check in December. We made a whopping $123.
It's definitely not all rainbows and butterflies in this process though. Spending all day on a cold garage floor isn't so easy on the body, especially as you get to be an older fart like me. I think I spend more time working on trucks than riding my bikes these days which is pretty weird for me. It also hasn't been that easy on my wallet because I've developed a tool-buying mental illness. Sean spends an enormous amount of time editing the videos, sometimes spending his entire days off to make sure the videos we're putting out are quality. Sean does most of the camera work but also helps wrench as well and gets me out of jams finding solutions to problems quickly. He's also had to listen to a profuse amount of profanity from me when I get frustrated.
But hey, nobody is forcing us to do this. We're doing this because we enjoy it and we're happy to give back to the DIY Mechanic Community. Many of us have been helped by a YouTube video or Write-up, including Sean and I, so this is sort of our way to Pay it Forward.
Will our channel ever be as successful as Chris Fix or Eric the Car Guy? Highly doubtful unless we hire some hot Tool Time girls to wear Daisy Dukes and halter tops and have them parade around bending over at the appropriate times while we're filming the repairs. Regardless of how popular our channel gets, we are super motivated to continue what we're doing so there's going to be a lot more videos coming your way.
Peace Out,
Timmy the Tooman and Sean
