Lightbulb Acrylic Fuse box platforms for 96-00 and 01-02 4runners!

Pre-cut platforms are NO LONGER AVAILABLE!! I will still sell the Adobe illustrator plans for them for $15 though

Below you will find all the information you need to choose the right one for you.
Please refer to the FAQ before posting any questions!

Now Available! Acrylic Fuse box platforms for 96-00 and 01-02 4runners!-20170309-img_2304-jpg

Due to the differences in engine bays between 1996-2000 and 2001-2002, there will be two main versions of the platforms, with many options for each!

Every platform is designed to work with all Blue Sea fuse blocks, you do not need to specify which block you plan to use.
You can use any Blue Sea fuse block you wish: 5025, 5026, 5028, 5029, 5030, 5031, 5033, and 5034. All of the ones pictured are using the 12-circuit w/negatives (5026).

=======================================

Ordering + Options
Base price = $35
Each kit will come with:
-The unbent piece of acrylic
-All necessary installation hardware
-Installation Instructions
-Kits will NOT include any of the electrical hardware or the fasteners needed to attach them.

Pre-cut platforms are NO LONGER AVAILABLE!! I will still sell the Adobe illustrator plans for them for $15 though

TO ORDER: Please send me a PM in the following format, see below for details on the options:

Quote:
Fuse platform order - your user name

Option 1: A or B
Option 2: Yes or no
Option 3: 1 or 2
Option 4: panel or surface
Your name
Your paypal address

Option #1: Version A or B

A= 1996-2000
B= 2001-2002

The 96-00 version here with the optional spaces for a relay and 2 surface mount breakers.

Every part is located very specifically due to tight under-hood space, minor hood insulation trimming may still be needed.

Now Available! Acrylic Fuse box platforms for 96-00 and 01-02 4runners!-20170412-img_2378-jpgNow Available! Acrylic Fuse box platforms for 96-00 and 01-02 4runners!-ay2p-parts-jpg

The 01-02 version is shown here in the optional fluorescent green with the optional relay, and 2 panel mount breakers.

The etched text is MUCH smaller on the production version you would recieve.

Now Available! Acrylic Fuse box platforms for 96-00 and 01-02 4runners!-20170309-img_2296-jpg

Option #2: Ignition relay (Yes/No)

Leave you room to add a relay?

A relay is basically an electronic switch that is activated by another circuit. The main circuit (fuse block) will then only be active when this other circuit is active. The most common method is to wire this relay to the vehicle ignition circuit so the fuse block is only active when the truck is on.

The relay meant for my design is this one:
E Support DC 12v 100amp SPST relay. $8.99 on Amazon as of this posting.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For wiring help, see the below FAQ

Now Available! Acrylic Fuse box platforms for 96-00 and 01-02 4runners!-20170309-img_2301-jpg

Option #3: Number of Breakers (1 or 2)

Select two breakers if you also plan to do the BIG 3 Mod, otherwise select 1 breaker.

2 breakers on the 01-02 version is $5 extra due to it needing a support leg.

See below FAQ and wiring help to determine how many breakers you want.

Option #4: Panel mount or Surface mount breakers

Which Blue Sea 285-series breaker will you get?

Blue Sea 285-series breakers come in two styles, panel mount and surface mount.

*Please note that on 1996-2000 4Runners, surface mount breakers may require minor hood insulation trimming.

Now Available! Acrylic Fuse box platforms for 96-00 and 01-02 4runners!-285-series-jpg

Option #5: Colors! (adds $10)

Standard platforms come in clear acrylic.

If you want a special color, that can be done for $10. Please allow 1-2 days extra lead time.

For the sake of transparency (pun absolutely intended), there is also a fuse box platform from MJT that is made from brake bent sheet stainless steel. It is also an excellent method for mounting a fuse box, but be advised there are no pre-made spots for breakers or relays. Also stainless steel conducts electricity... chance for a ground arc to occur. I would have bought one of these myself if it weren’t for those things.

Cost is $48 according to the website.

FAQ:

Electrical help for beginners? See the attached wiring diagrams and reference threads. PLEASE try to answer any questions you have before posting them.

What tools do I need? A 10mm wrench, clamps, and a heat gun. Anyone doing this kind of electrical work should have a heat gun anyway…

How do we bend the platforms? Quite simple and quick to do. See the provided instruction manual. You will need a heat gun and clamps.

Can you Pre-bend the platforms for me? No, multiple logistical reasons why I will not. If that matters, get the MJT platform. I will help LOCAL customers bend them.

Platform with no breakers? Get the MJT platform

Custom designs? Yes, $60 per hour plus materials. PM me for info.

Just the design file? Yes, $15. PM me for info. You will need access to a free laser cutter and very cheap materials to make this worth it.

Local Pickup? Absolutely, I am located in Westminster, CO. You come to me. I will also help local customers bend the platforms.

Other forms of payment? The only option besides Paypal is Cash for Local pickup only.

==========================================

BIG 3 Mod:

The purpose of this modification is to add capacity and stability to the electrical system. Highly recommended if you do plan to add many accessories.

Basically you will be adding large gauge wires between the alternator, battery, and chassis grounds to be able to handle additional flow from many large accessories.

See below wiring diagrams for a basic understanding of what is added.

Looks awesome Jim! I'll be PM'ing you soon...

One question, if you do not choose Option 2 and 3 (i.e. no ignition relay and no breakers), will the panel only have room for the fuse block? In other words, depending on the options you choose, the size and shape of the acrylic will vary?

Awesome job & details. In all honesty I think you'd sell more if they were pre-bent.

That is correct, the size and shape of the platforms varies depending on the options you select.

One thing to note, there is no 0 breakers option. It is only 1 or 2.

I agree I would, but the bend angle has a tendency to want open up slightly with excessive handling (during shipping for example) and they will snap if you try to bend them without heating first.

Also, the bends are difficult to duplicate perfectly and should be done individually for each vehicle for the best fit. Ideally a jig setup would be needed, but that cost is not viable with the low volumes I expect.

Also, shipping would cost more.

Is this just for the 3.4L? I am unsure whether this will fit on the 2.7L 3RZ.
