Help with Pioneer backup camera install

I recently purchased and installed a new Pioneer double-DIN head unit (Pioneer MVH-AV290BT) and backup camera (Pioneer ND-BC8) in my 1997 SR5. Through YouTube videos, a couple decent walkthroughs, and the owner's manual (Egad!), I was able to get it all wired up and working when the truck is put in reverse. However, I haven't been able to figure out (never found clear instructions) on how I do the wiring so that I can open the rear view at any time—this unit is supposed to be able to do this.

Do I have to run another tap to get the camera power when it's NOT in reverse? To the ignition maybe?

Here's the diagram of the back of the h/u:

Here's the backup camera connection diagram from the h/u manual:

Here's how everything is connected right now:

Thanks for the reply. I watched those Pioneer how-to videos and am pretty sure that I turned on the camera input setting via the h/u.

Are you saying that there's no additional wiring I need to do?

It's my understanding at the beginning of the video, the person tells you how to turn on the camera. You press the HOME button and then push CAMERA. The cam will come on. Once the cam comes on you should be able to get rid of it by pressing the X in the upper right corner of the screen.

I have a AVIC-6000NEX. There is a shortcut on the NEX units where we hold down the MAP button for 2 seconds and the backup cam comes on. Check out the link to the Pioneer forum; I'm sure they know how to do. Your forum for your unit is there, just slightly buried. You don't have a NAV unit, but it does look like the person in the video is telling you how to turn on the cam anytime by pressing HOME and then CAMERA.

Hi,
You have to connect ONLY wire no. 8 from head unit to reverse signal.
wire no 4 on camera connect to red wire on head unit (feeded 12V on acc)
this way camera is turned on all the time when you drive truck and You be able switch you screen to view you back

Best Regards
