Ultragauge 1.3 MX Question - Trans Temp??

I hate to start another thread about the Ultragauge, but I have searched and can find no definite answer about successfully adding transmission temperature with the newer Ultragauge 1.3 MX. I know that the 4th Gen 4Runners / 3rd Gen Tacomas have the PID's figured out.

Has anyone successfully added the transmission temp monitor to a 3rd Gen 4runner 99+ auto? If so, can someone explain how?

I thought that the trans temp was a standard parameter on 99+. I hear people with the ScanGauge saying its a available parameter without and programming of the PID.

Yes, the sensor is available on 99+ auto's. Scangauge2 does have the ability to program using PID data available on the forum.

I'm curious about adding trans temp, specifically to the newer ultragauge.

My Scanguage 2 did not come with the ability to monitor trans temps. I programmed it in while the wife was driving, using info found here. It was quite easy. Maybe mine did not have it since I bought it back in 2015.

Post up the PID data you used.

You are correct, I fixed my previous reply.

Since it is winter, my regular around town and highway transmission temps are in the 150s. Winter where I live, at a time of day when I am likely to drive it, is high 40s to mid-60s. When wheeling small hills and small obstacle courses last week it never went above 170. On the fun curvy road with 1000' elevation increase to the wheeling spot, it got up to 200. This is with a B&M 70268, bypassing the radiator. I did not flush out the old fluid when I put on the cooler, I should have though.

As for the coolant temps, I don’t know. Since the needle has never gotten above halfway on the gauge, I am not concerned about it enough to have it displayed on the Scanguage2. I have always on the display; trans temp, current mpg, and average mpg. The fourth spot changes, it is system voltage now, since I am concerned at how low it reads sometimes.

I think this is the thread with the info I used to program the trans temp function.

I have an ultragauge v1.2 from 2013. I emailed ultragauge July 2017 about upgrading my unit to 1.3 MX. I gave them my year and model (I have a 2001) and told them that I was after trans temp monitoring. They told me that the upgrade would not work and they wouldn't promise anything. But I can still upgrade my unit by sending it in and paying the $17 (found here: https://ultra-gauge.com/ZC/index.php...products_id=83)

I was just going to tell them to pre-program it for a tacoma. I read that 1st gen tacomas, which are similar to ours has trans temp working. I was willing to roll the dice and send in my unit but haven't gotten around to doing it. I use my ultragauge everyday but I do have an ELM327 bluetooth + Android phone to look at my trans. temp if I really need to.

It's not what you're looking for but this weekend i'll pack up my ultragauge and just send it in for the upgrade to 1.3 MX and report back in a few weeks time.

I got my unit back from ultragauge. Bad news is that it doesn't work out of the box. Since the 1.3MX allows you to change "M Gauge" data you could get it to work if you know what to enter for programming it.

For the smart people, here's a link to the 1.3 MX programming guide: http://ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/su...Supplement.pdf

I followed ultragauge's directions to the tee about converting scangauge codes and still get an error.

I followed the trans temp code from scangauge owners here:
Scan Gauge II Codes..New stuff

I'm in the market to get one too for a few months been doing research to get the ultra gauge to read trans temp. A guy on one of my groups said you might be able to get it to read the same way scan gauge does. Any one have any luck?
The codes he gave me was:

Transmission Temperature F
TXD: 686AF101B4
RXF: 044105B40000
RXD: 2808
MTH: 00090005FFD8

Thanks for sharing that info. But it is the same data I have used with no success.
