2018 Best OBD2 for the 4runner?

I found a 2014 post, but I know tech has evolved since then. What's the best OBD2 for the money for the 4runner?

I'd like to use my iphone to see everything if possible but there are a few choices out there.

What does everyone recommend?

Torque works well for me. Most any odb2 device works well with it. See live reads, trends and any value the ecu has to display. The limitation is the ecu not so much the odb2 reader.

Obd2

X2 on Torque App, it and I have two different Bluetooth readers, a $20 and an Amazon $5 "mini", both work equally well.

I would agree the limited info is all based on what is available from the truck itself, not the app or the reader.

My setup is a $5 Mini Bluetooth scanner, Torque Pro App, Samsung Galaxy 7mounted using RAM mounts.

When the truck is back home I'll get some pictures.

Torque Pro is definitely the best app, but it only runs on Android. For iPhone the app I use is: Car Scanner. OBD Fusion is also a good one for IOS devises.

Just look at the app developers info to determine the best OBD reader and compatibility for the app you want to use. I use the Veepeak Bluetooth scanner and it works well. https://www.amazon.com/Veepeak-OBDCh...xGL&ref=plSrch

Whatever variety you like, definitely make sure you get a Bluetooth reader, not WiFi.

As almost bro above, I think Torque Pro is the best, however, you cannot use it if you use apple devices. Just in case, you can find other suitable obd2 apps from this collection: 15 Best OBD2 Apps That Solve Your Car Problems 2019 - OBD Advisor. Hope it useful for you

I'm trying to read trans temp when towing. Bought a bluetooth scanner, and have torque pro but couldn't get trans temp. (Veepeak)
Which one do I need to access this? And which app?

I think you need a 2000 or up 4runner to get transmission temps.

Actually it's 2021. Unless you are saying that your 4Runner is a 2018. If that's the case try the 5th gen subsection rather than the 3rd gen section you are currently posting in. People over there will be much more familiar with your model and better able to answer your questions.

Sorry, I didn't notice I was in the wrong subforum.
Followed a google search to this thread.
Got the info on the scanner I had from a thread in the 5th gen, and it didn't do what I needed.
Search continues I guess.
