Vandalism sucks - Toyota

So, being that a few other members are posting their vandalism recently, I am obliged to share mine of yesterday morning.

Two kids came by, one with a mass assortment of knives and the other armed with fluorescent yellow spray paint, and raped my 4Runner in the night. It was about 2AM, when all of a sudden, a poof, tire deflation. We look out the window, and they're having at it. One is eating at my rear right tire with a knife, the other attacking my entire left and rear sides with the paint. We ran outside and chased them, but they obviously had a plan already for running, because they got away.

2:00AM, the police arrive. Now I respect the police, but around here, the police really tend to not give a shit towards vandals. They said they would look for them, drove down and back up the street, and said there was nothing they can do. Probably true, but come on, I knew where the kids were headed exactly, and told them, but they were reluctant to even listen.

Cops leave, now I'm stuck with 2300 dollars in damage. Luckily, my comprehensive insurance deductible is only $100, so I've already gotten all 4 new tires and had the paint removed. The rest of the money is going towards complete restoration of my Imperial Jade Mica paint.

Someone would lose at least a limb if this happened to me...

Wow, that seriously just pisses me off, if they find them I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest, and good luck gettin' the Runner back to the "untouched" state...

I hate the peckerheads that do this crap...

Seems like there's been some bragging by the vandals, the police are aware and have their sights on him and his buddy who fully fit my description.

If I can, I will make sure that they're prosecuted very, very well. How is $5,000 of prosecution sound?

I'll keep the people posted.

Sorry to hear about that. I really can't understand what people get out of destroying another person's car.

How did you get the paint off?

Well it actually was the paint construction people use to mark the ground, and I never understood how high quality that stuff really was. Since the insurance company agreed to completely re-do the damaged areas, it came down to actually using Acetone and the green scruffy part of a sponge.

I wouldn't let acetone near my car's paint in a million years, believe me, but that stuff was stubborn. I couldn't even get it off the windshield with a razor blade. Im glad I went with full coverage insurance, I used to just have liability...

poor poor 4runner. i think i wouldnt have stopped chasing them until my legs fell off or their legs get chopped off... this is not right at all. i did my toilet papering, saran wrapping cars but paint and tire slashing? thats gone too far

Hey, sorry to see that happened. I did notice that is looks like they spray painted "fag" on the back if not twice at least on the bottom.
That is not vandalism. IT IS A FEDERAL HATE CRIME!
That is a lot more than a 5,000 dollar fine. Try MANDATORY jail time.

Hope you can use this info if they catch the people. It would involve a lawyer but you could make out with money and peace of mind. Many lawyers would take this case free until judgement too.
I am surprised the Police didn't take it more seriously given the slurs on the car. Hold on, that doesn't surprise me after all. lol

Yeah, the cop actually asked me if I was homosexual and I told him I am not, therefor he said it was not a hate crime. Even if, I think it still should be regarded that way, since it seems so many other things can be taken out of context.

I should have lied..., but no, haha. I am having my new alarm installed tomorrow morning, as well as a whole new security light and camera system so I can catch any other people who even step near my 4Runner. I am glad I had an extra "oh shit" fund... but now I need to save another one up.

I guess because i'm a case law buff being in the Political Science and Business fields I am always thinking that way first.

Hope your new finish looks great, sometimes these things can be for the better. My accident forced me to replace the parts I was procrastinating on doing, and insurance footed the bill.

You should also get some new emblems out of it too, those can be pricey.

i wish i had the chance to chase the ppl who did mine.

id prob keep up with them and catch them then show them how much my bb gun really hurts

Thanks, I am going to use this to fix a few dents on my left side and my hood, some kid jumped on my hood when I was driving by once (WTF?!!) and crumpled it. I popped the thing out, but theres still evidence of it and a semi-large dent still there... Sport Hood anyone?

And I read about yours, move120, and that's really ****ed too. Has yours been fixed yet? I hope the best for you and every other person around this forum with vandalism issues... someone really should slap some sense into all of the crooked cops around here and make them do some god damn work...

I would take your rig to a top notch detail shop or a good autobody/paint place to deal with the paint removal.

I agree with others, there is a reason for punishment. Moronic people who trash others property for a start. Make them clean out Porta Potties for a month :chair:
