About rear sag
Hey I'm getting new shocks for my 4runner soon and i was wondering how to fix the back sag. Planning to add spacers but not very knowledgeable in that area. Another option would be to replace the rear coils from a 99 4runner because I've heard that they are taller, so has anyone done this or fixed the sag.
I don't want the rear leveling kit (supposedly they make the ride rougher)
thanks hopefully most of you know what I'm talking about.

96 to 98's have had the rear coils recalled. You can take it to a stealership and get them replaced for free.

I called the local dealership and the guy there said he didn't think there were any recalls on my 96 (b.s.). Shootmymime, all I see is red x's on your post. Since I would love to get my rig fixed for free, can you tell me what you posted there? Or a link or something? I need to get it done soon my left side rear is lower than the right side.

Any Canadians out there that have had this done?
I also called my dealer and they said there's nothing for my truck. Also, I'm signed up on the ClubToyota site and it says there's no outstanding campaigns on mine either.
I checked the VIN and I'm square in the middle of the '96 range. I'm assuming it shouldn't matter if it's US or Canada, other than odometer and DRL's it's still the same truck so should get the same fixes?

well... odd but it appears it is a US thing, Canada does not get the same deal, which I think is BS.
So, in some ways hope this helps us northerners at least know where we stand, but it really doesn't help in the end of getting anything fixed.

Has anyone actually been through this process? Also, what is the VDS in the VIN number range? Bringing copies of those into the dealership parts and service department should be enough to get this done? This is majorly helpful thanks!

Sooooooo I went to my local dealership today (Toyota of Kirkland) and brought my copies of the recall and they looked it up on their computers and I found out the fix has already been done on my 4Runner. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They replaced my recalled springs in '02 with springs that need to be recalled. Man I'm pissed. Can I argue that at all? I don't feel like I should be paying to replace my springs.
