SoCal's Build Thread
Current Pic
1997 4Runner SR5 5sp
Toytec Ultimate Lift with OME 891 in the rear
BF Goodrich KM2 285/75/16
Land Cruiser wheels 16x8
Shaved UCA
Outdoor Logic front bumper with full hoops
rear diff breather extension
deck plate mod
ISR
I bought this 1997 4Runner SR5 5sd in the fall of 2009 completely stock with 150k miles on it.
It didn't take long before the running boards, bug shield and sun roof shield were taken off.
August 2010 and it was time for a lift and some new tires so I went with a Toytec Ultimate Lift Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits and some BF Goodrich KM2 285/75 16 on the stock split 3 spokes. Yes I rubbed my UCA, so I shaved them. FYI the UCA is hollow, I didn't know that when I started shaving, so after shaving I had them welded to keep them sealed.
In December 2010 I took the chrome flares off and added some shackle mounts to the front that I got here
Trackdecal.com
January 2011 I got the Outdoor Logic front bumper with full hoops. Those guys do awesome work. I moved the front shackles to the rear where the trailer hitch was mounted.
Outdoor Logic
We had a good storm come through so I went up to Big Bear Lake to play in the snow. We didn't take pictures on the trail but this is what it looked like before we left.
March 2011 I replaced my LBJ and put some new (to me) wheels on. I like how these Land Cruiser wheels came out. I have the center caps but they aren't on because I need to paint them. This is out at the dunes in Pismo, CA.

Thanks, I really like how the bumper looks. I don't have a picture but can take one when I get home.

That bumper looks awesome, I wish that had been an option a few years ago when I purchased my TJM. On a different note, what do you think of the KM2s? I'm planning to replaced my MTZs in the near future and am trying to decide what my next tire will be.

TarheelRunner - I really like the look and performance of the KM2s. They have done well in the sand, dirt, snow and on the road wet/dry.
palmettorunner- the shackle mount works just as well in back as in front.

Thanks, I am looking forward to seeing your rear bumper and sliders on there as well, hopefully soon. If you ever want to head up to Pismo hit me up.

Nice pics and nice rig! Definitely love the combo of the LC wheels and the OL front bumper. Gives it a really sweet look.

Thanks Hepar, I am really happy with how the combo looks. I am at a place where I really like the look and performance of it but am still excited to improve the areas that could be stronger.
The next thing on the to do list are sliders and a cb radio. I just need to find someone to weld them on that knows what they are doing.

I hear ya. I've been looking for someone good for almost 9 months. And by looking I mean looking out my window hoping some welder will come knocking on my door.

Yeah I'm thinking my first welds shouldn't be on my sliders. Maybe in a few years I might be at the level you are at. Off course that would require me to buy a welder and actually learn to use it.

Here are a few pics of Outdoor Logics new rock sliders. I really like the way they look, up tight and ready to beat on. Just walking up to the Runner you see the sliders but you don't see how cool they are until you look underneath. In the pics below you can see the plastic that is bolted to the metal on the underside. Looking forward to test them out next weekend. I also bolted on a Borla cat back exhaust but didn't take any pics because we all know what an exhaust looks like.
Let me know what you think.
