Im very shocked people are not telling you ticks are normal....

There is a reason why its called the Toyota tick. The valves are super noisy on Toyota. When your in a fast food drive though or near a building it really stands out.

Tick.tick .tick.tick.... I assume its just the Toyota tick. Messing with valves is not something I ever see people having to do.

My valve train clatter is noisier than I'd like. And that's after adjusting the exhaust valves that were out of spec. All the intake valves were good.

The 2GRFE is especially "ticky" in my Camry and Highlander. My 4runner sounds quieter than both of those 2011's....

I would accept that it were normal if it didn't just start doing it at 285,000 miles. Prior to this starting a few days ago my engine was practically silent when running. No squeaks, ticks, etc, ever.

yeah im not so sure about ticks being the norm....like yours my '97 was quiet as a mouse, the junkyard engine in it now, although runs great, ticks like the one in the video. on start up its quiet but as it reaches operating temperature the tick comes into play. I hear it mostly at the intake plenum?
