My 98 4x4 limited build

I bought my new to me 98 limited 4x4 runner last week. It had 170k miles on the clock, but had been maintained meticulously and has a TON of new parts all over it. It's in really good shape. I plan on this being my DD and will do light trail/adventure/expedition duty, hauling me, the wife, and the dogs to campsites etc.

So far I have just fixed a broken swaybar link, and installed a stereo and CB. I will order some tires to put on some black 16" raceline wheels I have next week. Leaning towards 265 Falken Wild Peaks, but we'll see, I change my mind a lot haha.

Posing with my pup Molly right after I brought it home:

Running boards and Bullbar off

The rims that are going to go on it, I'll have to downsize on tires, I don't want to lift enough to sqeeze the 33's in there

Kenwood cheap head unit with Cobra 18 WX ST II CB mounted together in the factory radio hole:

Running a K30 magnetic antenna for now. May or may not be permanent depending on what I do or don't do for a roof rack and other things. This is how she sits after week 1 and her first wash:

More to come soon

Good platform! Dig the wheels. They'll look great on there. What size tire are you thinking?

Haha I have been wanting that stereo/cb setup since I had my Tacoma, just had a JBL in the Tacoma and didn't wanna mess with bypassing all that crap for the aftermarket head unit, so yes I copied, but I've been wanting it for about 3 years haha.

I'm gonna do 265/75/16. I threw the 285s on tonight and they're MASSIVE on there, I'd have to hack up all kinds of crap under the fenders, and I just don't wanna mess with rubbing all the time.

Did a little light wheeling today down at the river bed by my house in Norman. Let me just say how impressed I am with how well this thing does offroad. I have been stuck a ton of times in the silt down in this river bed, even on dirtbikes. Today I had 3 of my buddies in the truck and it never so much as threatened to make us dig. I didn't even air down the tires! We climbed up some pretty dang steep silty whooped out hills and it never even spun a tire. REALLY REALLY impressed stock, can't wait to get some nice tires and shocks on it, it'll be unstoppable. Here are a couple pics from today:

285s and no lift anyone??? Too bad I can't even turn the wheel past a half turn or hit a bump at all. These Yokohama Geolandar AT-Ss will be for sale, less than 10k miles on them. Let me know if you're interested. Going down to 265s.

Got my 265/75/16 Falken Wild Peak ATs mounted on my Raceline Renegade 6 16x8" rims yesterday. I paid for the P-metric light load tires, and today I noticed I got the E load 10 ply! haha. They still ride super smooth, so I'm pumped to have the extra beefiness. Just did a few minute run down to the river today and they ROCKED. Slow crawls up deep sandy hills felt like it was paved. No problem for these. They look very aggressive, almost like a mud terrain tire, but they are completely silent on the highway. I'm very pleased with these so far.

A few poser pics:

And after a wash:
