Plasti Dip Rims w/ lots o' pics

I finally decided to plasti dip my rims. I thought and thought about and it definitely came out way better than i thought. Took around 3 hours and about a can and half of plasti dip. The pictures arent great i got tired of waiting on the freaking weather to clear up and just took some anyways.

I swear to god it was the biggest pain getting the tape right below the rim. I hope i never have to do it again.

Those lines are dirt, its been raining the past 3 days and im not wasting my time to wash my car.

Coming soon: Spidertrax

Looks great, I was thinking of doing mine this weekend. Can you post a pic of the actual can of paint so I can get the same one you got? And where did you purchase it? Thanks

Edit: You dont use a primer w/ plastidip right?

There is only one can of spray plasti-dip that you will find, well you "may" find red or blue but the can all look the same, its a blue/yellow can, google plast-dip spray and look at pics.

Also I found that playing cards work really good for around the rim. Go to dollar store buy 2 stacks of cards for $1. They are strong enough to be shoved between rim and tire, overlap half the card, works perfectly.

No primer for plasti-dip, plasti-dip is not a paint, its just rubber.

Weekend Mods and Plasti-dip/spray paint...

Looks good man. I want those rims! Its hard to find FJC rims in my neck of the woods and if I find some on craigslist their gone in like a 1/2 hour.

FYI: I've had my rims plasti-dipped since about July of last year and they still are holding up awesome. No sign at all of it peeling or coming off.

yeah man I got tired of searching so I made an account on a fj cruiser forum and got some. That's probably your best bet. And I hope my rims hold up as good as yours are

Thanks A_HuL. I do have an account on the FJC forum (that's where I got my coils) so I'll keep searching on there as well. Still, tough to find them in my area. I'm willing to drive a few hundred miles to pick them up but to have them shipped is really expensive.

I think that looks great! However with those wheels I think all you guys have an upper hand at making them look real sweet with those dimples along the outer rim. If there was a way to keep those silver and not having the plastidip peel, i think that would look great!

Either way, it looks awesome!
