Smile Aftermarket Projector Housings for 03-05s

Has anyone tried aftermarket projector housings like the ones I have seen at dashzracing? They have the angel eyes halo rings, blacked out and projectors for both low and high beams. I know they may not be legal but not asking about the legality just the build quality. I have seen them at other sites also. Cost about 200 or so us $.

Some members have them and like them, others think their crap. It all depends on your definition of quality. Personally I'd buy a pair if they where just projectors w/ halo rings but all those other LEDs make them look a bit cheesy in my opinion. Bottom line, don't expect OEM quality but if you like the look then pick up a pair. Also search around for the best price because these lights are all over ebay and other online stores

EDIT: For example heres a pair (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2003-2005-TOY...vxp=mtr&_uhb=1) for 125 with free shipping.

Keep in mind that the optics of the projector are going to be no where near as good as OEM or aftermarket TRS projector setups. I have a small headlight modification business (Headlight Hookup) and have compared several of these type of chinese lights directly to my projector retrofits. The output is not worth the "upgrade" IMO - your better off getting OEM projector headlights or doing a retrofit on your stockers.

Cheers

Personally, I would take the OEM and modify them. I wanted halos but not the cheesy ebay ones so i just custom did mine.

I left the OEM projector as i felt it was more than adequate with the Morimoto 55w kit from TRS.

Do you have a write up or anything on that mod? Where did you get the parts for the Halo?

I ordered the Halos for around 65$ from TRS and to install them you just go as if you were blacking the crome in the headlight out. But just drill a hole at the bottom of the shroud type thing for the wires and glue it in place and wire them into the parking lights or through a switch. If you need i can make a video and try to explain what i did. Just let me know

I wish I had the time and the talent involved in the do it yourself retro, blackout, halo ring projects. I have watched youtube videos and they have vacuum machines and such and cut this and that off to make fit. Just looking for a easier way then the DIY. You guys with photos, nice job!

Little older thread but for anyone looking contact Rickashay, a few posts above. As far as I'm concerned he's the man for projector retrofits. He did mine and does outstanding work, and can build a CUSTOM set for you.

Mines a 3rd gen, so pics likely wont do you much good, mine were plug and play, super simple install. Check out his retrofit thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...it-thread.html . plenty of headlight porn in there lol! he really does amazing work.
