It looks like a few people were successful in the link provided by J.B. Maybe you should PM one of them.

I review the thread from JB and learned the following:
- Allegro has a 2007 T4R. He report "No tranny temp, no oil temp"
- SteveC5000 reports "ScanGauge II with the X Gauge feature seems to be the only way"... but he is not specific about which truck this worked on.

I posted to the thread to see if anyone there has been successful with my configuration. still looking....

Page 2, post 23. From LEO98 (07 V6):

"Just got the Torque app and BT ELM off Amazon. Seems to be working great so far...wish I had a few more PIDs that worked.

I noticed that my Transmission Temp and Coolant Temp readings are just about the same. Where or at what points (gauges/PIDs) are these readings?

I've also noticed that my Torque app gives me "Trans Temp 3" (not 1 or 2)....
What am I missing?

Page 2, post 26. Also from LEO98:

"playing around with Torque info
Just posting a graph I made from the Torque information. I initially posted both Trans Temp and Coolant Temp, but my numbers are basically mirror images.

Nice program...probably use it on long trips and to compare how the T4R operates when I haul my boat.

are you able to read the PID codes which the BT ELM is using to monitor transmission temperature?

Did you go back and check all the #'s again? This is the code to use for pre 2010 models..

Yep that's what I have.

I'll try to dig around the scan gauge site.

Is the 04 different because it uses ISO instead of CAN or whatever?

Looks to be the case. Fund this while looking on the site for another code, which I didn't find..

Note: The above code will only work on Toyota’s that use the CANSF protocol which was typically used by Toyota starting in the 2005 model year.* Our list of which Toyota vehicles support the CANSF protocol can be found here.

All right guys. Been using it for a while now, got it from 4Runner Club Kazakhstan. You need a bluetooth ELM327 adapter (Ebay) and Torque application installed on your Android-based phone. In Torque, you should create the following two custom PIDs:

PID: 21d9
Long name: Transmission fluid temp 1
Short name: TFT1
Unit type: *C
Max/Min: 220.0/-40.0
Equation: (((E*256)+F)/256)-40

PID: 21d9
Long name: Transmission fluid temp 2
Short name: TFT2
Unit type: *C
Max/Min: 220.0/-40.0
Equation: (((G*256)+H)/256)-40

These work fine on my 2006 T4R V6, and should work with any 750 transmission (V6 2005 to 2013, V8 2003 to 2009). I don't know if it will work with 340 transmission which they installed on 2003 and 2004 v6, but there's a chance it will - someone has to test it.

There are two temp sensors, one in the transmission, another one next to the radiator, the latter's readings are higher - it shows temperature of a liquid yet to be cooled down in the radiator.

I checked accuracy of these PIDs in Torque using another diagnostic tool (MVCI cable) and Toyota Technstream software - it showed diffrenece between Torque and TIS Techstream of around 1 degree Celcius - which I think was due to time it took me to switch between the two tools.

Now, the idea itself and PIDs were originally borrowed from one of Tacoma forums (Tacomaworld I guess), but when we checked their PIDs we found out they showed temperature about 20 degrees higher than the real one. That;s why we had to ask some programmers and Toyota fans from Russia to help us and now we all can use their correct PIDs shown above.

I hope it'll save you some time and money.

P.S. Just don't forget it's all in Celcius.

This post is the first return on my Google search for Tranny temp PIDs for my 2014 LTD. I'm guessing this PID is only valid on 4th gen vehicles. My 2014 works with the PIDs given here.

These codes worked just fine in my 06. Thank you!

What are normal Celsius temp readings? Is there anyway to change the formula so they display in Fahrenheit?
