3D Printed Tray Inserts
Some of you may have seen one of my recent threads about 3D printing a prototype Satoshi Grille. The whole "3D printed" thing seemed to spark some interest on the forum, so I figured I'd post one of my completed mods involving 3D printing.
When I got my used Runner, one of its obvious "pros" was the great condition of the interior. It looked even more amazing ones I got it professionally detailed. The only issue with the interior is that the previous owner managed to get blobs of clear epoxy permanently adhered to the bottom of one of the storage trays (the one below the center console latch). Rather than trying to scrape the epoxy out and risk causing more damage to the interior, I decided that I would go ahead and design and print an insert to cover up the eye-sore. As an added benefit, I designed a little panel on the insert that stores the remote for my Pioneer audio system. Here are some pictures of the final product:

With Remote
A Better Look At The Feet Below The Insert
I may make different versions of this insert that have more features (coin holder, etc.) in the future.
What do you guys think?

awesome! would love if you made a divider for the center console. maybe one that goes down the middle or one that goes across, or one that separates into 4 sections? that thing is like a bottomless hole filled with crap!
i saw another poster here make a tray divider that came he used to divide the center console top & bottom.

I could definitely try designing something for the center console. You're right about it being a bottomless pit! I also want to make some circular inserts to cover the bolt heads at the bottom of the console.

x3 on the big console organization. I'd be interested if you can come up with something good.

Just let me know what kind of improvements you'd like to see for the cup holders, and I'll see what I can do

That's what I'm saying. I either have to have something massive or something tiny to fit in that thing. Even if it's huge, it'll just too over, especially if it's like a fountain drink.
My console is already filled to the brim with random stuff I need on the road. A little bit of organization would be nice.

I think you guys have just never driven vehicles with sh!tty cup holders... I love my T4R cup holders, by far my favorite cup holders of any vehicle I've driven enough to pay attention to 'em. Never had a problem with any sized drink in mine.
These are bad cup holders -

My Lexus had pretty bad cup holders, but they would at least hold the drinks without fuss, assuming I don't make any sharp turns.
The 4th gen cup holders are pretty damn shite with slimmer drinks. Drop drink in, close tampon wing up, cool, holds drink in. Go to grab drink, and the center insert comes right out. Now you have this mess to deal with while doing 70 on the highway.
The best cup holders I've ever used were the ones in my friends Civic SI's. Second place would be other friends old ass Sentra.

Hey
@ TiN
, here's a link to what I was talking about with the center console organizer, maybe this will get your creative juices flowing
if you do make one, hopefully you'll keep the USB at the bottom of the console in mind to make sure its still accessible.
Custom center console organizer
would be VERY interested in purchasing one if you would be able to make one though!

The ones in the center aren't bad on this one. They wouldn't fit larger bottles, but any others would probably be fine.
EDIT: They are ugly as hell though haha

The organizer you linked looks really useful. I'll keep you guys updated on the progress. Between the grille and various insert ideas you guys have, I'll be a busy bee for a while Thanks for all the suggestions!
