I will put this information here for anyone else that would like to add the 115v AC power inverter. I understand you could add a higher rated after market inverter for cheaper but I wanted to keep the OEM look and don't think I will be using the inverter for anything more than power small electronics.
I have a 2004 SE that did not come with the 115v package. After doing some research on here and other sites I was able to find a used inverter from a 2003 Toyota Matrix on eBay for $30 shipped. The Matrix along with other Toyota vehicles use the same inverter as the 4th gen 4runners. For whatever reason Toyota and eBay charge a lot more money for the “4runner” power inverter.
Anyway I have listed the part numbers below to do this “mod”. I was able to find all parts (some new some used) for about $110. I made my own bracket with parts I had laying around. Also, I just used the console box I had and used a dremel to make the cut out for the receptacle. My runner was prewired for the inverter, the only wire I needed was the console wire that connected from the harness in the center console to the receptacle in the center console box. If anyone has any questions I’ll try to help. The inverter is located in the driver side of
rear cargo panel.
