*Phil the 4th Gen - Rickashays Mild Build Attempt
Just introducing myself here to the 4th Gen side of the world. I
Picked up a 08' V6 4x4 Sport Edition this weekend. ~70K miles (115,000kms) full dealer service history since new, 2 previous owners, and no accidents. Came with the full Weathertech mat package and a Pioneer Bluetooth HU. After we made the deal, the previous owners took it to Toyota to have the oil changed and a service done. I was quite impressed, they obviously cared for this vehicle thoroughly.

I love the color! Not sure what it's technical name is, "Shadow Mica"?
As the title states I honestly do plan on keeping this thing fairly stock. My goal for this vehicle is to be OEM+. Still stock in many ways but improved on some of the finer details. It's main function will be highway hauls and driving around town so it needs to be comfortable, have excellent road manors, have a good stereo, and be reliable. And of course it needs to look good too!
This will be a slow build but I should be able to keep it updated as time allows.
Mods so far:
- Pioneer BT HU
- Weathertech Mats
- 265/70/17 BFG A/T's
- Running board delete (2 hours after I drove it home... lol)

Shadow Mica 01F4! Lol, I've had to do paint touch-ups. I love this color. Like a charcoal, glistening mixture. Makes it look expensive the way it shines.
Although I'd really like to see this built up like your 3rd gen. You'll still have fun with it though.

I like them all, been following you over on expeditionportal. Guess I should make a build on there too...lurking for almost a year.
Doug the Tundra looks sick. I never considered one because I never really saw them built like this. Can't wait to see what you do with Phil the 4Runner.

Good stuff Isaac, still love your 3rd Gen. I'll have to go peep your GX once again for some "mild build" ideas.

I'd like to but I'm trying to basically use what I have, again OEM+ is the theme here. Maybe in the future but all my mod money is going into the Tundra until it's "done".
Update
Picked up some 2013 Tacoma TRD Offroad Bilsteins for basically nothing from a friend. Also scored some FJ rear coils for free!

Found some new center caps from another local forum member, pretty pumped about these. It's all in the details:

Hoping to pull the XREAS on Saturday and get the suspension installed. Have a line on some 1.5" wheel spacers I might pickup tomorrow too. Then that's basically it for "mods" until I get around to doing the stereo. Clean and subtle but I think it will look pretty good!

Check out my build over on ih8mud, its where I have been hanging out of late... On mod I'd recommend though that is so underrated and if you blink you will miss it... is, swapping out the windshield washer nozzles for those found on newer Tacoma's... They have a nice broad flat spray and are way better than the "jets". And it's like $15-20. I'll try and find you the part numbers.

Seen the Tundra over on EXPO. Definately makes me want to add one in addition to my 4Runner, I'm truckless right now and it pains me!
Interested to see the center caps on the sport wheels...unless other wheel plans happen.

Oh I like this idea... could probably slap them on the Tundy too! I hate the jets haha. Good tip Isaac.

Yah the truck sure is nice to have for utility purposes. I just took the 4Runner on it's first road trip and clocked about 1000kms. Drove fantastic and was so comfortable. Even with the two dogs in the back, my camera gear/drone/suitcase in the backseat, and my buddies Inno ski box on the roof with my skis, it was very comfortable. Just confirms I bought the right vehicle for my uses.... really liking the 4Runner as a daily and road trip machine.
Front bilsteins are in from the Tacoma. I gained 2" of lift, which is crazy and shows how bad the stock ones were sagging. The truck is now sitting level when unloaded but has bro-stance when I had it full of gear. The FJ rear springs and Tacoma rear Bilsteins will go in when I get back from Cuba in a couple weeks.
Center caps don't fit the OEM Sport wheels! Super bummed... was really looking forward to the effect from the small detail and the little bit of color contrast.
I'll grab a couple pics of the trucks stance tomorrow hopefully with the front struts and the 1.5" wheel spacers on.

Lol no, I wish!
Well, partly so.... I still have the Tundra and the 08' 4Runner. The Lexus and the 3rd Gen 4Runner have been sold. Tundra is the trail/camping rig, 4Runner is the daily wife/ski rig, and I drive a Yaris RS as my commuter.
