I think the 6112 is worth it, comes with springs that are matched to the damper, so it's a full strut solution. I like that. The bigger piston size also means it should likely be a better damper than a 5100.
When I replace XREAS I think 6112 front is what I'll do... rear maybe T12 with Icon 2.0

Exactly what I went with 6112 front and icon 2.0 rear with the t-12s! Perfect setup. I’m still waiting on parts. I’m debating now if I should drop the rear diff and a couple other odds and ends

On another note i have heard from someone who installed the T13s mentioned earlier in this thread on a 07' and claims that the lift is around ~1". So know its nice to know we have more options and better data at our disposal to make better decisions....

I have this issue now. 6112's up front and 5160's + T12's in rear, and the backend is very rough riding. Not a fan at all really. I also happen to have the sway bar links but I haven't had a chance to install. This will be the first thing I do in the spring based on what I am hearing.
If I were to do it again, I'd likely ditch the T12 (unless the links fix it) and go with a lighter Dobinson coil or try and learn more about the T13's.

I’m running Dobinsons suspension and for the rear springs I’m running the following.
C59-723 - Stock rear end, offset height coils for KDSS leveling. 1.5” lift 420/405mm, 17mm wire, 228LB
Fender to hub heights:
Driver rear 23 3/4 inches
Passenger rear 23 5/8 inches

I'll be going with a similar setup. Which Dobinson coil would you have gone with? 559?

Bumping this back up again since I’m currently considering T12s to solve my negative rake situation. Of course, after reading all the way through this thread, my original plan of running them with 5100s is now in question since just about everyone that has done that combo wasn’t happy with the ride. When I bought my ‘04 v8 4x4 it was already leveled by a previous owner with Bilstein yellow Toyota branded shocks, and unknown springs in front (maybe Tacoma?). It currently sits an inch lower in the rear because of extra weight from 3/4” plywood platform, and all the tools I carry for work. Some have suggested air bags in other threads, but I was thinking of just doing it correctly with slightly longer and heavier duty springs since I leave the weight back there all the time, and I occasionally tow a boat as well. The only things I’m confused about are whether these will make it too high relative to the front, making me need to raise that more (which I don’t mind), and if I can use these with my current shocks since no one seems to like them with the 5100s. I believe I currently have stock springs in the rear with the yellow Bilsteins, but can’t be sure since it was done before I bought it. I haven’t done any off-road stuff with it yet, but it rides pretty well in its current setup, so I don’t want to make it any worse. Since these seem to be around 1 1/2” lift, they should in theory be perfect stance-wise because of my -1” rake, but maybe someone running them could verify?
My current measurements are:
LF 20 1/8”
RF 20 1/4”
LR 19 1/4”
RR 19 1/4”
It would be nice if just doing springs, and maybe shocks in the rear would solve my issue!

I've had my 5100's with T1/T12's for about 2 months now and love the ride. A little stiffer than stock but that's what I was looking for. The coils match the 5100's very well in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback. That was the impression I had prior to reading this particular thread too. I wonder if the damping rate is just bad for serious off-roading or something? I was originally pretty happy when I saw how affordable the 5100 shocks were compared to almost any other longer than stock option, and since I don’t do any serious off-road stuff thought this would be an ideal setup. This thread definitely makes me uneasy about it though, just because I’d hate to spend the money only to have to buy a more expensive option anyway. At that point, the cost savings isn’t a benefit at all. If I had an unlimited budget, I’d just opt for Kings or something.

If you're not doing serious off roading kings are a waste of money. Search any truck/suv forums and you will see the majority of people using billsteins for their lifts. I had them on my previous 4th gen matched with FJ coils for 40k miles and loved the ride. You can't go wrong whether you match them with Wheelers or OME coils.

Yeah, that’s what I had gathered from the dozens of lift threads I’d read over the past couple of weeks that I’ve been researching this. This thread was the first one that had several, or literally almost everyone recommending NOT to use 5100s with the T12. I had also read before in others where people felt they couldn’t handle the extra stiffness of the OME springs either, but most seemed to like them with the FJ springs.

the tools and wood platform add in weight? The OME 895e is rated for 200+/- lbs over stock vehicle weight. I cant say if the T12 and/or dobinson 559 spring rates take into account extra weight or not.

I would say 200ish is a good estimate, but I never actually weighed each tool bag individually. Might not be a bad idea to do that though, so I know how much I’m actually dealing with. I’ll bet the platform is 25-30lbs by itself. Is the 1 1/2” extra height after the additional 200lbs., or does it sit 1 1/2” higher than stock before additional weight?

I run Bilstein 5100’s front and back with OME 884 fronts and T12 rears and Ive got a lot of compliments on the ride.

Thanks, do you carry more rear weight than stock, what was your settled height?
So, I just bought some Icon 2.0 rear shocks, so I guess now I’m looking for suggestions of what will give me about 1 1/2” of additional lift AND play well with the Icon valving.
