If you are looking for a quiet exhaust, the Gibson is NOT it.
(I have a Gibson exhaust)
Back in the day, I was not impressed with the Bosal welds.
Walker/Magnaflo is my go to for OEM quality.
If you are able to see/touch the actual exhaust parts before purchase, I would consider doing that.

Thanks for all the responses. I'd love to be able to find a used factory exhaust and priced out a new one at the local dealer and it was just shy of $800. Again, not looking to get cheapest fix either but really best value.

Will a 4th Gen V8 exhaust fit a 4th gen V6 as far as a replacement? Found one local that is being parted out.
Also will a 5th generation 4runner exhaust work on a 4th gen? I found a local used one.

Mine gave out in the same spot. I got a walker cat back system for Rock auto. Good quality and cheap.

My OEM exhaust only lasted 8 years before rusting out. Installed a magnaflow for about 6 months but it sounded awful. I then went with Bosal and it's lasted 18 months and is about to fall off. Also there's something loose inside the muffler that rattles really loud at high revs, so I won't be buying their stuff again.
Currently have a gibson system in the garage waiting patiently for some free time to install. If it sounds like crap too, then I'm going back to oem.

Bueller.....,
I don't recall what engine you have (V6 or V8) that has the bad exhaust?

depending on the year. you will need to extend the front of the pipe.
when i did the dual borla, it came from a 05 v8, i drive a 07 v6.
front of pipe had to be extended about 4 inches i think.
my muffler guy already knew that he had to modify it a little. but since he was so cool, he didnt even charge me at all.

Exhaust Recommendations
BBK Performance adjustable muffler. You can attenuate the volume of your exhaust to your liking.
I went to a local muffler shop and asked one of the old heads if I wanted the exhaust a bit louder, but not magnaflow 40 series loud, if that was possible. He first said I should get a 50 series. After hearing my truck, he said the 50 series may even be a touch quieter than what I have now.
I’m currently running with the muffler dialed out to it’s ‘loudest’ setting and I have DT headers as well. Very happy with the results. Not loud and boomer ever and when you get on it you can hear intake & exhaust noises.
I have a v8 btw

I agree. OEM is the way to go. I have the 2005 model V6, I am still using the original exhaust parts. at some point those rusted parts will finally fail on me and once it does, i'll replace it all with OEM since I plan on using it for a long time.

You want to keep it and give to your daughter in 6 years = OEM.
Cheap out now and there won't be anything to give her.

Ok so my tailpipe broke off of my exhaust today as well. I'm looking into options and i came across this video (linked below).. The muffler was replaced with the resonator which i've never seen done before, Anyone more experiences with exhaust systems have input on this i'd appreciate it. Pros/cons?
