The HIR bulbs may have a slightly differently shaped plastic flange than OEM, so a file or Dremel tool may be needed to reshape to fit. Otherwise it's a simple swap.

The HIR bullbs are longer than the OEM, but the primary light source is about half-way along the bulb length, so the focal length of the headlamp assembly remains correct.

I don't care much about white, although I don't like those blue lights very much. The HIRs are very close to the same color temperature as OEM, just 33% more candlepower for the same wattage thanks to the infrared reflective coating.
