Are you even reading what i wrote?? Please go back and read it again...it's not rocket science, especially for someone so knowledgeable in physics!

Anyway about this "discussion", I think the main problem is that the subject or content I was focusing on shifted over the course of our exchange, and you didn't follow me.

As the conversation progressed I was addressing statements like "In your situation, no system in the world will save him"

Not only is that untrue, you never gave me a reason why people can do it but a computer could not. Either you do not understand the situation I'm describing or you simply don't understand vehicle dynamics.

Telling me "it's not rocket science", "read up on VSC's", "reread what I said" is nothing more than being dismissive.

Ok...let me make this as simple as can be:

1. I am not a Toyota engineer. Do NOT ask me WHY can't my 4runner do this or that! I can only tell you WHAT YOUR 4RUNNER CAN DO in certain situation. Again, i did NOT design your 4runner.

2. ATRAC shuts off around 40 mph. This is FACT for Land Rover and Mercedes traction control systems.

3. VSC is there to correct oversteer and understeer...as per Toyota's literature and every other manufacturer's literature.

4. Dismissive?? I am not running for a political office nor do i have any special connection to Toyota.

Now, anything beyond this, i would recommend that you stalk a Toyota engineer in Japan and ask him yourself!

Are we clear??

You guys are funny!
Iowa have you ever driven your 4Runner with ATRAC on icy roads?

Thai just to clarify from my experience.
I haven't driven my Runner on ice yet, but in snow, mud and soft sand.
My experience have been that even when driving in a straight line, VSC dethrottles when you loose traction and it does so pretty quickly. It also modulates the brakes. This has been a source of frustration for me and lots of other people trying to get up a hill as it seems the 4Runner almost dies on you as it basically stops building momentum. This was until I figured out ATRAC still works but VSC turns of when you lock the center diff. Makes a big difference!

So Iowa the 4Runner actually does what you request.
