How much did this set up cost you? The coilovers? Also did you put the BL on by yourself, if not how much did it cost to get put on and does the frame hang out of the bottom a lot? (PICS please) How much did the roof rack cost you and who made it? What exactly do aftermarket bump stops do for you? Who makes those and how much? I am thinking about a body lift, I think I could stuff 35's underneath mine at that point, wishful thinking maybe. How much did the roof rack decrease your mileage? I am already at 13.5 on the highway on a good day, without the shrockworks bumper so probably a little less in a few weeks.

Snow in AL

We ended up getting about 3-4 inches, which is a big deal for Alabama. These pics are outside by friend's house after it had sat all day outside.

Coilovers are about $1,400 a set for the extended travel Fox Remote Reservoirs, the upper control arms are also needed with these coilovers, which are about $650. The rear shocks are roughly $800, and the rear coils are about $200. I did put on the BL myself, it was not too bad. I will try to get some pics for you shortly.

Bumpstops make the impact when you bottom out less harsh and more controlled, it is only noticeable if you wheel your truck hard, at speed, and fully compress your suspension. They are made by Timbren and about $200 for the fronts.

35's require a lot more modifications. See toyota120.com for more info

The rack is made by Baja Rack. It is about $525 for the rack and about $200 for the light cage. It will hurt your mileage quite a bit on the highway, also creates a lot of wind noise.

I really like the set up you have. I am stuffing 33's right now and had to do a lot of the same trimming he was talking about (cutting body mounts and fender). It would def be hard to stuff the 35's with just the body lift. One day I will just do the full custom suspension and fit 37's, when this thing is just an offroad vehicle. So the bumpstop is that loud thud the rear end makes when going over a quick hill or a speed bump quickly? That would definitely be a mod that will be done soon. Thanks for the info, do you recommend the full suspension you have? How old are you? asking because

Check out Medic83 on Toyota120, he put 37's on the other week.

I only have bumpstops in the front, not the rear. Usually the thud you hear in the rear end is your suspension full expanding. With a Cornfed 3/2 your springs are typically trying to overextend your shocks farther then they are designed to extend, so that may be causing it. Typically you have to be doing fast and pretty big obstacles to make your suspension stuff fully.

I highly recommend the full suspension I have if you wheel hard, and for long periods of time. Remote reservoirs like I have are useful on extended runs where you begin to overheat standard shocks. I have beat on these at 70+ across the desert for almost an hour straight before without any issues of fading. I would say that for about 95% of off roading, Resi's are not needed, esp if you do not do FAST runs. Also, these are very pricey and will run you about $3k+ for a similar setup, so many looks elsewhere. I would look into the Rad Flo suspension, sold by Overland Warehouse if you do not need Resi's (which most do not, I think I only know about 5 other guys running resi's on 4Runners). The Rad Flos were valved and designed specifically for 4th gen 4Runners are work GREAT with guys with bumpers and extra weight, like you will soon have.

And I am 22.

Thanks guys. Those wheels were an awesome upgrade. I actually posted a WTB for some FJ wheels on the FJ forum and some guy said I could come have his for free, but they had some bad rock rash from wheeling. Since I was planning on painting them that was fine by me. Just took an afternoon of sanding and spraypaint and I had the final product. Only cost me about $30-40 to get 5 black FJ wheels, pretty good deal

Lubbock did get snow last week but nothing that stuck. On the whole, Lubbock has seen more winter precipitation this year than I can recall for nearly the last decade.

Cornfed 3/2 and Timbren a good solution?

Hi All,

First time poster needing some help. I have a 2008 4Runner limited w/ XREAS. I carry a motorcycle on a hitch carrier that causes some sagging in the rear and extends out far enough that it sometime will drag the ground over dips.

After reading several posts I think that maybe the Cornfed 3/2 is a good choice and maybe the Timbren system stops too. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks!
John
