Post Footwell Lighting write up

I put together a page on the installation of Footwell Lighting to my 4th gen.

This mod features:
  • Footwell lighting that automatically turns on when any door is unlocked with a key or keyless transmitter, when any door is opened and when vehicle is shut down
  • Three mode switch...On/Off/Door
  • Auto shutoff feature after 30 minutes if footwells left on while vehicle is off
  • Auto Fade In and Out
  • Adds 240 lumens of interior lighting, 60 lumens per footwell
  • Wired so that no additional relay or fuse is needed

This is the icing on the cake when it comes to my recent interior lighting upgrades...Maplight Mod, Led interior bulbs, Footwell Lighting.

Let me know what you think.

Looks sick! I may be copying you soon on this one too! I have been thinking about how to do this, as my TL Type S has a wicked Red LED glow in the footwells that I just love. Great job.

JA, have you thought about modding lights into the door handle slots?

I've seen it done, but its not my thing..I dont like it.

I have considered adding a strip of leds either under the rocker panels or at the base of the door and tapping into the running board light pin on the body ecu, using them as puddle lights. But the 2.0W door lights I chose seem to throw off more light than i expected which is great when entering the vehicle so that is on hold for now.

I want to add leds to the back of the lower glove compartment, definetly.

Also I am considering adding small low level light orange leds around the interior as ambient lighting, possibly in and around the console and door switches.

Switched reading lights for back seat passengers mounted to the side panels would be great as well.

Like I always say, too many mods and too little time...
