Toyota Access Pricing CANADA
I have a question for you guys concerning the pricing of Toyotas, particularly in Canada. Toyota Canada has a one price policy where all of its dealers have to sell their new vehicles for the same price. Its suppose to protect the buyer from dealers ripping you off and save you time from shopping around. However toyota now lists these vehicles at MSRP. Its seems very difficult if not impossible to get the dealers to move on the price. Who pays the asking price? I find it very hard to pay MSRP for a vehicle regardless of the model.
Is this against the law? I remember seeing an article in the Vancouver Sun saying that Toyota acknowledged this issue, but I have heard nothing since then as to enforcement. What have you CDN guys done to reduce the price from MSRP? |

Ignored Access...
I also hate to pay MSRP no matter what vehicle it is. When I went shopping for the T4R I saw references to the Access pricing but I ignored them. E-mailed 15 dealerships in SW Ontario and got an excellent deal thousands below MSRP at Cambridge Toyota. It's all a game for the stealerships. Some think they have the local market by the hand (and they do for uninformed shoppers) and other are willing to deal. I told the local guy to think again. Didn't give him a second chance. It was a nice day to drive a little further and save big.

If you read the article in the Globe and Mail, customers in Ontario at least have the opportunity to negociate the price. Out here in the west the dealers are making a killing using the one price policy. The price differntial is staggering betweeen Ontario and BC.
Maybe I should have a truck shipped out here? How much would it cost?

That's Nucking Futs!
![]() I am considering an '05 V8 Ltd and this could be my first Toyota. I did not knowing about this pricing policy! I never talked price with the salesman yet but in my mind I was hoping to get at least CAD$3000 to $4000 off MRSP since the Canadian dollar is so strong now.

Pinuz- Where did you buy your truck? If you are having troubles call Toyota Canada now, if you leave it till later the problem most likely won't get resolved.
Pnokeo- You won't be SOL if we get enough guys together to complain to the Competition Bureau of Canada. Toyota already know's the problem. They just need a shove in the right direction.

Man, that's funny. Go ahead ... give them a call ... see how much you really mean to them. From experience, I discovered that all Toyota Canada cares about is whether you're going to make their monthly payments. You made a deal with a STEALER and you're stuck with that forever. Toyota Canada doesn't give a rats ass about you, me, or anyone else unless there's a dollar for them to make. Once you have taken delivery of the vehicle, what exactly do you think they can do? Do you think they will voluntarily pony up and pay the STEALER to make repairs that are not under warranty?!? Bear in mind that the vehicle was damaged while in the possession of the STEALER. Do you think the STEALER would have taken delivery of a damaged vehicle? NOT! Sorry dude, but taking delivery of a damaged vehicle will not be addressed by Toyota Canada and, unless you have something in writing from the STEALER stating they will REPLACE (not REPAIR) the damaged part TO NEW, you're SOL! Please prove me wrong! |

I bought my 04 V8 for not much over invoice using www.CarCostCanada.com - they charge you for the pricing but it's like 40 bucks or so - and they usually give you a dealer you contact who will honor that price with no haggling. The dealer I went to had to locate the car from another dealer but they still gave me the price originally offered. If you are having a problem on the West Coast with pricing its worth trying them. (and no I don't own shares in them or have any connection with them - I'm just somebody who does not enjoy the whole haggling process)

B.C. customers will have little (no) results when utilizing auto dealers in an attempt to haggle with Access Pricing STEALERS. Ask the broker if they will be able to negotiate a deal on your behalf and the response will be, NO! Been there, done that. You're best buy, In BC, is to wait till year end clearance occurs when both STEALERS and Toyota Canada offer incentives to be rid of the old stock. |

Pricing...
Yabedude is right. It all comes down to $$ at the stealership level. Toyota Canada is not in the picture. Haggle away because the price is not fixed by corporate. That's what the stealers say to back the buyer into a corner.

However, my last call from toyota wasn't as pleasant. They called me at home. I talked to two representatives. The second person took down all of my information and displeasures as I have meantioned before. I told her about the pricing fixing. From my understanding she said the dealerships are allowed to sell below the MSRP, but its up to them. Its not her exact words as she was very reluctant to answer my questions. She went into a speal how great the Access Pricing was. I asked her if I could go into a dealership and negociate a deal below MSRP. She said she could not "advise" me. I asked her if I was going to hear anything from her in the future. The answer was NO, however Toyota will look into the situation. Man you could feel the heat from me. Yabedude is most likley right, but its worth a try. And I tried. |

Thanks Grimace for the help.
They did a polish on the car (I think here you say detailed), the small deep scratch and the back near the licence plate was removed by I have to better look under the strong light for see if there is some shadow or blurry. Many of the others linear scratches are still there, so I don't know if they did really a full detail, but touching the paint I can feel something smooth but my color is really hard to see clean. I'll post some picture if the weather will get better (Vancouver is the land of the rain! and I'm from South of Italy where is sunny for 75% of the year! and hot....) This Board helps me a lot since I'm not a native english speaker and I don't know very well the laws and the rights but I'm learning fastly thanks to you guys. I have good electronic and mechanical skill so I can help people in many areas. The 4Runner have a great engine and excellent transmission but some detail is not at the level of German Cars and there is lots of cheap plastic and many others little imperfection like the motorized rught windows, they make noise when you drive with half window open!, you'll never see this on a german car. No light for the passenger power windows, anyway maibe I'll write a long list. Asian people have different sense for confort and details, for them isn't important but for European the taste and the details are important. Safety is great, lots of aribags, the stability control is excellent, the brake assist force is wonderfull (just tried it saving a drunk pedestrian, the car stopped in few meters without problems) Is cheaper in gar compared with my Jeep but the seats are really hard for my butt! the jeep have better and bigger seats. Thanks again to everybody Quote:
