frame question between fj cruiser and 4runner

hello,
after checking out the total choas site for their long travel kit i got to wondering what the true difference between the frame and chassis is between the FJ cruiser and 120 4runner. i pulled the some specs from Toyota. but what are the true differences and what other suspension parts can cross over? will the MAF aux fuel tank for the FJ fit a 4runner since the numbers do look close.

It shouldn't be too hard to fit. The FJ is built on the similar 4Runner/Tacoma ladder frame; in the FJ application they shortened it some in comparison to the 4Runner.

I'll see if I can get you some more specific information when I am at the shop Saturday.

I tried fitting a Trail Gear crossmember to mount a skid plate, and the 4th gen 4Runner frame width was wider than the FJ. I assume this is because they shortened the frame.

All suspension parts are interchangeable.

The tank on the FJ is shorter if I recall correctly.

Wider really? Still haven't looked over the data on TIS, its on my list of stuff to look up for other threads. This week's been pretty busy so I haven't had much free time.

I was looking at an FJ Cruiser earlier today and had my 4Runner in a stall nearby. You should be able to fit the spare tank in there, but you will have to modify or remove the sparetire brace, and possibly make your own brackets. But physically it should be fine, the spare tire well is far larger than the rear section of the FJ Cruiser in terms of sq.ft.
