Exhaust manifold leak/tick
Ok so I just noticed this today I seem to have an exhaust manifold leak with the windows down at slow speeds you can hear a slight tick and after having my wife give it some gas while parked myself and a friend both listened to it and it doesn't sound like a valve or a rod or like the noisy V6 fuel injection anybody else have this problem and I looked for headers online and it seems nobody makes them for 03 to 07 V8's?

yes because the cats are part of the manifold on a V8 so they have to be changed as an assy. both my manifolds were cracked so i ended up getting all new manifolds, cats and exhaust right up to the muffler. fell under the emissions warranty.
what also might help is tell them you have the sulfur smell. they will change the cats under the TSB and the emissions warranty and you will automatically get the manifolds.

I think I've got it
Starting to think I have a cracked manifold. Passenger side I believe...
I hear an exhaust leak type ticking noise that was never there before.
Its most noticeable when cold and at low rpms when under load. I dont hear it all that much in park but in reverse with my foot on the brake its very noticeable. Also when taking off from a stop light you can hear it pretty easily...
I think stock manifolds are like $600/each and if I'm not mistaken there are no aftermarket options for 2005 V8 4runners. A competent welder may be able to repair the original as well. I've heard replacing them is a real PITA and takes many hours.
I will be pulling the manifold heat shield this weekend for a closer look...

I just noticed mine doing the same thing the other day. 03 V8 with 80K.
Started it in the garage and hear the tick. As soon as the exhaust warmed up, it went away.
Anyone found any aftermarket exhaust manifolds yet?

I have it too and the Toyota tech told me that is what it is. Mine only last for about 1-2 mins after start up then it goes away once it gets warm. Estimated repair cost at the stealership was $1500. They said it would not pass state safety inspection in VA but I live in MD and we don't have safety inspections after you title it.

Well after some talking with my dealer they looked at it and I have a cracked passenger side manifold and possibly the drivers side one as well the vehicle was warm and it goes away after the motor heats up. The cost to replace both manifolds is 1500 without labor and it is a 10hr job. My dealer won't replace them but they said they will take them off and have the cracks welded and reinstall them all at no cost.
