TRS projector headlight retro fit group buy

UPDATE: Groupbuy is a GO GO GO we got over 25 orders with the sentra forum: http://allsentra.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=9395

order your kit using this code: R8TacomaWorld25
25% off your kit!! place your order and when the 25 orders are in they will ship out.

group buy is undergoing and the list is growing, please add your name on the last page to save about $70 on a kit! discount code will be posted on here once we reach 25 buyers.
I spoke to andrew from TRS and basically we get discount as the same number of people buying up to 25% off. if we can get this going it would be awesome, I also have a buddy that is in tacomaworld because I use to own a taco and maybe we can get both forums in to get the 25% off. let me know if you guys are interested.

TRS website: The story behind The Retrofit Source Inc
tacomaworld group buy link: round 8 - projector retrofit group buy - Tacoma World Forums

username phisly here has done this retro fit, here's the link 5th Gen HID / Projector retrofit installation (pics).

here's harper7's retro fit: June 2010 T4ROTM - harper7

just an info, if you're handy and you have done work to your car like satoshi mod or black out headlights, then you can do this retro fit yourself. My buddy and I did his tacoma without any experience in retrofits. the total cost for the retrofit if you do it yourself will be the cost of the parts as you need nothing else other than the glue.

basic price breakdown
orig price: group buy price:
10 people- 10% off
$300 - $270

20 people- 20% off
$300 - $240

25 people- 25% off
$300 - $225

and so on, you get the drift
price above are not actual price, they are merely a figure to look at what discounts look like. please check their website for different kit prices.

here's some info
posted by buzzardsgottaeat from tacomaworld.com
A lot of people get the mini (H1 or D2S) because they're easiest to install

FX-Rs are better quality but require free hand cutting of your light housing and a slightly more difficult aiming/securing process.

Blazers are for fogs, you have to cut/rig it up custom, no plug n play or bake n reseal there.

H4 headlights
H10 fogs (H11 for 2012s) are the sizes you need and the harness will be the H4/9003 iirc

H1 has been deemed a little brighter while D2S more even output. Most go with the H1 simply because its brighter but don't consider other factors. Matt and the guys at TRS mostly favor the D2S and I also like to point out that the larger shrouds fill our headlights better than the mini H1 and there is a greater selection.

3000k is yellowish and good for fogs for its ability to cut through adverse weather

4300k is like sunlight or stock color headlights and has the highest lumen count (brightest) of the available options

5000k will be whiter and is the highest TRS recommends.
6000k is also very white with a tiny bit more blue

Any higher temp is stupid because you lose light output and fatigue your eyes and others.

I always say 4300k is the way to go but can see how white/5000k has an appeal

The upside to a projector retrofit vs cheap hid bulbs in your stock light housing is mainly that it is higher quality and has a clean cut off line. Also helps that it is legal.

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head but that should be a good starting point for anyone who wants to start researching these.

Damn, I'd love to have some projectors retroed, if more interest shows up, I may try and jump in. As far as price, is it $300 parts, $270 labor. Is that the breakdown? What type of projectors and lenses in this including? Let me know. TRS is located not to far from me. I could probably just drop mine of right with them.

I may be interested. But right now I am in contact with Oracle about a retrofit (they did Duc's lights). Depending on the price they give me I may just jump in here.

I'm definitely interested in this. Can you give us a run down of what parts will be included (projectors, shrouds, etc)?

For anyone that has already done this, what projector did you use and how much of the reflector needed to be trimmed?

Lens Projectors, Morimoto Ballasts & Bulbs, Shrouds and a Plug-N-Play Harness.

you basically get everything you need to have this retro fit done. the only thing you need after this is labor.
once I get mine I will post a step by step DIY for those who are interested but are ify about doing the retrofit themselves

yeah, I saw that. hopefully I have better luck this time. I have it going on at the tacomworld forum at the same time to get more going. they're at group buy number 8 and we still haven't done 1. perhaps the forum just needs more exposure on it. it seems that in the tacomaworld forum there are a lot more people willing to do DIY, of course our forum here isn't as large.
