Lower dash in progress!

This is by far the most labor intensive part of the whole thing. it's almost impossible to find a good universal screen. There are several low resolution cheap ($50-$100) models online but I didn't want to go through all the trouble of getting one of them custom molded into my dash only to have it break in a year. The screen I am using is a higher quality unit from Alpine. It comes with no mounting solution however so the entire mount has to be custom fabricated.

The dash is still under construction, but the interior is starting to come apart for the sound overhaul now too.

No more sliding tray! This area will become a hidden amp rack

Stock subwoofer:

Gone:

Stock JBL equipment removed:

The new equipment going in! I wanted this to be a sound quality build - I have no need for earth shattering bass. I let my installer pick the equipment and he recommended Ground Zero. They are a high quality German engineered company that has been around forever and predominantly covers most of Europe. They have only just recently come to the US and are starting to gain momentum. I listened to the from components when I dropped off the truck and they sound fantastic!

The list of equipment:
Front: Ground Zero GZUC 650SQ Components
Rear: Ground Zero GZUC 650SQ Components
Hatch: Arc Audio Moto 602 Coaxial
Sub: Ground Zero Hydrogen GZHW 25X Sub
Amps: Ground Zero GZHA 4150Xll 4 channel, Ground Zero GZHA 2350Xll 2 channel

Also here is some more pictures of the camera system.
The four cameras:

The main DVR box - it's very small!

Pickup date has been set for this coming weekend. I'm super excited to get it back!

One more thing, the head unit is going in behind the iPad. We were going to try and fit it in the glove box, or lower in the center console somewhere but everywhere is too shallow to fit a standard depth single-din. Because of this, a custom bracket was built behind the iPad mount and the mount was modified to allow the head unit to be seen when the iPad is removed, and hidden when it is in place.

The mount in progress:

I'm not even really all that into in-car electronics and looking at that pile of parts is making me jealous!

Can't wait to see that 360 deg camera installed and working, you HAVE TO make us a demo video.

The whole entire car is getting sound deadened to cut down on road noise and to improve the acoustics.

Covering some trouble spots behind the rear panels

Are they doing the headliner?

BTW, perfect time for the rear storage mod, maybe even put the lid on some sort of hinge.

I don't believe so...I did tell them to use as much sound deadener as possible, but I doubt they will pull the headliner to deaden that. I would imagine it would be a good idea though to cut down on some wind noise from the rack.

Good point! I haven't entirely made up my mind with how/if I'm going to set up my rear storage though so I'll probably save that one for later.

Just checked on this, and everything is centered on the screen itself, not the iPad mount of iPad body. The iPad mini doesn't have a perfectly symmetrical body in landscape so the case is moved over slightly to center the screen.

Oh, ok. Make sense.

This is gonna be a killer set-up. And the guy putting everything together really knows his stuff.

Stoked to see it all come together.
