Front Bumpers for 5th Gens

Ok all, there doesn't seem to be one, so here's a shot at the enumerating the front bumper options for a 5th gen. Unless otherwise specified, all these bumpers are bolt-ons.

Shrockworks

Starting at $1,397, the Shrockworks bumper is a full frontal jobbie that has several options for hoops and lights. It also comes with custom trim pieces for below the headlights on the 13'+ models, so you don't have to cut up your old bumper to fill in the empty spaces.

Weight: 137lbs

BudBuilt

Starting at $1,300 the BudBuilt bumper is similar to the Shrockworks, but only has an option for a single hoop - headlight guards are, unfortunately, not available. However, the BudBuilt bumper's design eliminates the need for filler pieces below the headlights and has a more aggressive hoop angle. Also, I'm not sure how you would access the winch gear neutral/engage switch found on most warns. Waiting to hear back from BudBuilt on that one.

Also, the BudBuilt is designed for 2010-2013 models only.

Weight: 101lbs

Note that BudBuilt also makes a hidden winch mount that runs $375.

Demello
Starting at $1,099, the Demello bumper is another full-size, aggressive show-piece winch bumper. With options for a single, or all three hoops, the Demello has good frontal access to the winch, though top access is poor.

Weight: 115lbs

4x4 Labs
Price somewhere around $1,500. Not much info on this. See @bimrunner 's build thread here.

For more information, ping [email protected] or [email protected]

Weight: 102lbs

Pathfinder Outdoors Rockteck Bumper

Starting at $1,545, the Pathfinder bumper is the tubular addition to the offering here. Made with 2" steel tube, the Pathfinder bumper also supports a winch and optional lights.

Southern Style Speed (SSS)

Starting at $825, the SSS is a streamlined partial front bumper replacement with a sleek design.

With probably the nicest integrated LED design, this bumper is a functional yet aesthetic-oriented winch bumper for those that aren't looking for a full-frontal bumper. Additionally, the SSS bumper has been specifically designed for 2014-2015 T4Rs, so it's not available for earlier models yet. Word is, they're working on a version to fit 2010-2013 models.

ARB
At $1,238, the ARB is a time-tested brand and design. It may not be as sleek as the other designs, but it's air-bag compatible, has easy winch access, and a number of accessory options.

The ARB bumper is designed for 2010-2013 T4Rs, but can be mounted on later models by hacking up the stock front bumper to fill in below the headlamps. See this thread for more information.

Some additional notes from @Intruder :

- The winch is mounted foot forward, which is the most stable way to mount a winch. Downside to this is you will need to clock the winch, which isn't always easy.
- You can completely remove and reinstall the winch without removing the whole bumper. Only need to remove the front lower plate.
- If you have a 2010-13 with daytime running lights (the turn signals) the housings can melt from the heat so you will have to replace the bulbs with LEDs.
- ARB warranty service kicks ass. When I melted the signal housings they sent me two replacements under warranty, which showed up within a week.
- The powdercoat on the bumper is pretty bomb proof compared to other powder coating I've seen.

CBI

Anyone have info on how much this costs, or if it's even available for 5th gen?

Hefty Fabworks

Available in both steel and aluminum, Hefty is another nice full bumper, though it doesn't replace the entire plastic face, so you'll have to do some plastic cutting on the grill and below the lights:

Lot's of good options around lights and hoops, too. Steel base model is $1,495, and the aluminum is $1,795.

Steel Weight: 145lbs
Steel Weight: 59lbs (holy shit!)

Pelfrey Bilt

Another great looking bumper available in both steel and aluminum, the Pelfrey is a full grilll bumper, fitting nicely up to the lights:

Aluminum: $1,695.75, 62lbs
Steel: $1,440.75, ~120lb

It also comes in white, which is a great option.

ProLine

Another great option that goes all the way to the bottom of the lights, the ProLine runs $1,375 and has a great streamlined look:

Addicted Off Road

Good looking bumper at a great price ($999). It's worth noting that the Addicted doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the headlights, so you'll have to do some plastic cutting:

Undercover Hidden Winch Mount Systems

While not really a front bumper, the Undercover Winch Mount provides a way to add a winch to the front of your rig without the added expense and weight of a new bumper. With models to fit all 5th gen T4Rs, this jobbie will only set you back $450.

Weight: 50lbs

A Note About the Windshield Washer Bottle

With most of these bumpers, because of their aggressive approach angle, they expose the delicate windshield washer fluid bottle. To fix this, you may consider relocating it. Expedition One makes a nice one that works for both FJs and T4Rs that also increases the capacity to two gallons for $180 (2013+ require an air pump relocation pump that's also available for $30 from them).

Others

Let me know if there are any others.

I've been told that 4x4labs has one, but I can't seem to find any information on it.
Good start, but you missed demello, as well as 4x4labs. See bimrunner's build for some 4x4labs info, demello has their own thread for the bumper so there's plenty of info there.

I really don't understand the "airbag compatible" statement ARB keeps throwing out.

It doesn't mean that other bumpers will cause airbag malfunctions, or that the ARB bumper somehow would result in a better crash result.

if it is like the ARB bumper for my Jeep it just means it supports front crush cans.

with that said I have been talking with Josh at ARB and they are in the works for a 14-15 bumper

4x4 Labs in bimrunner thread: Bimrunner Build Thread & Pics

I can't find it this morning, but either RCI or Metal Tech also makes a tube style front bumper for the 10-13. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a link instead of a critical observation of your effort.

If you want to copy/paste the links to your list I'll delete this post to keep your thread less cluttered.

@Jesse1983 new sticky for the FAQ?
I've also got more pics of the 4x4labs bumper in my build thread, and I've got headlight hoops. Not sure if there are anymore of those bumpers with the hoops.

Actually I'm pretty sure that's a 4x4 Labs bumper. It's just referenced in the bimrunner thread. As good as he is @bimrunner may get a little testy if he starts getting a bunch of PM's asking him to make and sell them! Lol.

Maybe just add the words 4x4 Labs in front of that link?

The only affiliation I have with the bumper building is my wallet. Lol. Yes, 4x4 Labs in Grass Valley CA built the bumper and I will not be building any... You wouldn't want what I could build...

The crush cans mimic the factory crumple zones, so there's a lower chance of the airbags deploying in a less severe collision. It's not that the other bumpers stop the airbags from working, just that the lack of crush cans means they might be more likely to deploy when they shouldn't.

I think it's unfortunate that the pics of the ARB and BB bumpers in this thread are on otherwise stock vehicles. Makes them look a little less badass than the other pics, and also makes the ARB look a lot bigger than it is in person.

There are enough pics of my 4Runner around as it is. I know there are a couple others with ARB bumpers that look pretty badass too.

I really like the 4x4 labs with the hoops. I think that's what I'll wind up ordering.

how is the winch access? clutch lever easy enough to get to? what about the spool, can you see that? I use my winch a LOT. I fell trees all the time with it, and it seems like for a lot of these bumpers, the winch access is an afterthought.

The ARB bumper IS huge, tho.

I was going to get a custom fab'd one from Armorology, but the divorce has left me broke.

Easy to use and you can see the spool. My line is synthetic black so in my pictures it blends in. If I wasn't a hack job at taking pics, you'd probably see it. The hoops do look good. They grew on me after trying on Spencer's before he bought it... Lol. However, mine is the prototype and as such there is extra flair. When you look in from top down you see the spool. here is a picture and you can see the clutch on the driver side and the remote plug on the passenger side.
