OEM capacitors are taken out of the equation however they are still glued in place. Really no reason to remove them completely and if for some unknown reason I ever wanted to go back to the stock tweeters, they're super simple to swap back. The 300hz capacitors I'm using with the new speakers are perfect for the 3.5" speaker.

Well I did it anyway!
Bought the Subaru Kicker tweeters and just put them in.
By far the easiest parts swap I have ever performed on this ride. Easier than the rear-wiper replacement for sure lol!
Sounds crisper as expected from new tweeters. I have aged into simpler needs on the audiophile scale and feel it is a noticeable improvement without much extra effort.
YMMV depending on level of audio wants.
Thanks again for the post

I went kicker 6x9's in the front and kicker 6's in the back. All in all the sound is very good. I also changed out my head u it for a pioneer 8200nex which I'm extremely happy with. Android auto and apple CarPlay !

Just installed the $92. Subaru tweeters from Amazon.
Made a big difference in clarity & fullness. Tweeked with my Kenwood’s graphic equalizer they sound pretty good.
Great 10 minute mod!

I used the taco tunes adapters, tiny bit of pipe strap on each side, and 300Hz bass blockers to install Hertz DCX 87.3 3.5” speakers. Also had to trim the underside of the driver side grille to fit with the new speaker. It was a science project compared to the Subie tweeter upgrade but fun to do and the sound is crazy good!

You should trim that cone off both sides completely if you want the full benefit of the new speakers.

Once more into the breach then!
Also I may be headed down the rabbit hole. Starting to look at upgrading the door speakers and sound deadening. . .

Just installed mine and wow, serious improvement!
Should’ve been ten minutes but apparently Toyota had Hercules install my passenger side speaker.

I just installed the Subaru Kicker tweeter that I got for $78.
It is amazing. It sounds more clear, crisp, and detailed. Well worth the upgrade.
