does this upgrade help with the excessive amount of bass?? That's my cheif complaint with the audio..feels like the base is turned all the way up.I've checked the settings and everything is right in the middle.

I did the swap, I also compared the stock speaker with these and the big difference is you can better here voices over the new ones. The stock speakers really only allow high freq tones, but no voices. They are a better range, and a noticeable upgrade. They are not "Wow, my stereo sounds awesome" upgrades, just a better range, and I was able to adjust my treble/bass setting for a better sound. To me they are worth the $$ for a total plug and play setup.

Hmm. They are advertised as Kickers, and have the right stock number in the listing, but you are right, the photo does not look like the Kickers I received.
Buyer beware.

Not to assume anything, many of you with positive results already have the "premium" OEM audio, correct? A lot of you are doing this the your TRD Pros which I believe come standard with premium like my Off Road Premium did but want to make sure this is an upgrade to that.
Thanks

I did this mod a few weeks ago and it makes no change to the bass. It gives you a little more clarity in the high end.
However, since I got the truck I quickly adjusted the equalizer to -3 notches on the bass, and +2 on the treble. After these Kickers were installed I dropped the treble to +1 because they seemed clearer and were sometimes a little too pronounced.
The stock sound was much improved after the equalizer tweaks I think and slightly better with the kicker speakers increase.
That said, if I had had to do it again I probably would’ve just ordered the Focal Toyota front and dash speaker combo that is also plug and play (and also $250-280 I think) since replacing the door speaker will likely give better mids as well. I feel this Kicker upgrade improved mostly the highs like cymbals, etc, and maybe the mids only a very little bit.

Adding to the discussion. Installed a few days ago. I agree with pretty much everything said by str8flexed, I only take the bass down 1 step. There was a small but noticeable improvement. For $100 and 15 minutes of time it was worth it, I’d say we’ll worth it. If you can get the speakers at a good discount I’d say even better, no brained to go for it.

I just installed these over the weekend and I am impressed. It drastically improved the high end. It was totally muffled before. For $95, it truly changes the dynamic range of the factory unit and seems to get louder to boot. Highly recommended.

The "premium" audio is garbage, it's not even the JBL audio system. All that means is you get more speaker locations than stock

yes, and that those speakers are still paper garbage with microscopic magnets. But at least you have more locations to put better speakers in

I had the Kicker CST20's in my dash (same speaker that comes in the Subaru tweeter upgrade kit with a polymer adapter plate) and recently replaced them with Kicker KS-series 3.5" coax speakers. I'm so much happier with the 3.5" speakers up there... a nice bargain at $50. Same highs as the tweeters alone, but more mids so my entire soundstage moved to the windshield. Sounds absolutely amazing. I had to do my own wiring with a couple of solder/crimp connectors but the whole install only took about 30 minutes.
I have Kicker CS 6x9s in the doors and Kicker CS 5.25" all around the back. The 6x9s in the doors and the 3.5s in the dash were the biggest improvement to the overall sound, without a doubt.

I took some queues from this thread and others, then installed a pair of JL Audio 3.5" C2-350x coaxial speakers in my dash. It took a little time, but it was easy, and well worth it. I can't believe the difference!
