Rearview camera mod WITH NAV
***EDIT** Deekoi tried this out, done deal it works!!-
Ok, here's the deal. Alot of you have been asking for this since sp8ball posted the rearview mod writeup. This mod will allow for Nav screen rearview camera operation via a switch at any time, and it will still operate normally when in reverse. I have been looking at the EWD and I'm 99% sure this will work, but someone (gulp) will have to try to verify it works, as I have never worked on a Nav equipped 5th Gen...
Anyway/
There should be a 5 connector gray plug feeding the Nav screen. Unplugged, and looking into the connector the poles are numbered 1-5. Pole #2 is the darker blue wire(ignition hot) and pole #5 is the red wire(reverse sense). The mod should work the same as sp8ball's writeup with these wires.
SPDT switch. Cut red wire. Clip side of red wire to center of switch. Harness side of red wire to outside pole of switch (either side). Tap into blue wire and attach to other outside pole of switch.
I can't tell you exactly where the plug is, or how to take it apart because , once again, I don't have one to work on.
Good luck, guys!!!

I will be in Baltimore on the 3-4 of June, if no one has tried this by that point my 4Runner is available for a bit of investigative work.

OK, I have a Limited with NAV. However, I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish. Is this so the camera can be activated while the vehicle is driving? It would help to know the purpose of this mod, since not all of us may be familiar with the writeup you mention (or perhaps post a link to the write up your supplementing) Just my 2 cents.
I'm assuming this is to allow camera activation while vehicle is moving, if so, can you confirm? If not, what does this do?

No problem - here you go.
This allows for - with the flip of a switch - the camera to be activated at any time when the truck is on.
Flipped one way, you get normal camera activity (i.e. it comes on when you put the truck in Reverse).
Flipped the other way, it comes on regardless of what "mode" you are in, and stays on for about 5 minutes before the mirror shuts itself off (but will still work if put in reverse). A simple toggle of the switch (back and forth, one time) resets the camera for another 5 minutes.

Thanks man, I figured that's what it had to do. I'm thinking I may do this AFTER my warranty tho, since if something goes wrong with this NAV unit (another member here has already had it eat his cd's and not let them back out) I'd be in serious trouble. I do like the idea of being able to check the camera while moving tho, so it's definitely a cool concept.
Thanks for the information, I appreciate it.
