That's what I did, but you need to replace the front fender molding in order to make it line up nicely. The rear fender molding is a rubber plug and lines up in an okay fashion.

Once you do all the above you are looking at a way pricier option compared to the Shrockworks rockers. Since I don't have any personal experience with the Shrockworks rockers, I'm not quite sure how they line up with the fender molding, but from their site it looks pretty nice with no adjustment/replacement needed:

Thanks for the input. i saw the shrockworks rockers and they do look like a good, clean option. My husband would prefer to just go for the Trail rocker trim, so price and time may be the deciding factors. Love your truck!

Since the project to lengthen all the cables for my Group 31 Marine battery to fit nicely in the OEM location is going slower than expected, I ended up getting what will eventually become my second battery. I had to leave my truck at the Airport for a week in the cold and as expected, it was dead when I returned. It started right up with the Emergency Starter (something similar to the one below).


Since we're freezing our ass off here and I don't want to have to mess with the emergency starter (and loose my radio presets all the time), I sucked it up and found the best battery deal (for what I wanted) at Sears.

The OEM "TrueStart" battery that comes in a 2010+ 4Runner is a Group 24F. I could not find any specifications on the TrueStart Battery online. This Group 35D battery fits in the OEM location without having to stretch any cables. It is a AGM battery and a deep cycle.

Im glad you decided to find a battery that will fit using the factory battery cables. The one thing I've learnt is if something is remotely hard to take off or apart it is USALLY better off being left and not touched.

LOL .... nope.. haven't given up yet on the wire exchange Just want to keep things running smooth while I figure it out. Hope to get a bit closer again this weekend as I should have some time to puzzle. Will install the 35D when things go back together. Going to focus on separating the fuse box this weekend since I'm pretty sure I know who/where the cables run to/from the alternator (Yes @limamike .. I still need to draw a line diagram. Been out of country, but will do that today or this weekend as well).

Okki, you should really look at the group 31 in the same Sears platinum version. It will fit in their with no mods and no extensions of the wires. It is a huge super-battery and will easily last 6-7 years. Just my $0.02,

From what I've seen on here it does require some re-bending of connectors. In this thread you read all about what I'm trying to do before installing the Group 31. The 35D is just a temp fix.
